LC6i good choice, but notice the JBL MS 8 is $499 on Crutchfield.

Either would effectively do the job and one would not even have to change their speakers. Could change but not have to change.

I like a nice loud system that can shake it good if i so choose, but i really want quality sound which is why i'm thinking no bigger then one 8 in. subwoofer in this small car. I have a 10 in. Alpine chilling in a box waiting for it's next home, but i think it will be over powering in this car.

I will ask him about the turn signal volume next time we talk. He has been working on getting the radio wiring prints for me so we could figure out the plan of attack before opening it up. I'll update when i get word of anything good.

The default install stereo will shake at 45 with my ipod on max, the mirrors will be jumping and what not, but it does distort.
And yeah, the sound quality is horrendous as it is.

After everything was hooked up I will say this system sounded fantastic. There is plenty of power, the sound is crisp and there is plenty of base.
Everything is good right? No so fast. Remember when I said that all the audio goes through the factory radio. Well that also includes the seat belt alarm and the turn signal. With the amp set at 0 which is the nominal setting, the audio for the turn signal, seat belt and key is so load, it hurts your ears. I ended up turning down the channel 1&2 pot in the amp to make it bearable. The sound still sounds okay. This is a huge improvement over the factory system.

late post, i know. but FYI on the wiring harness connected to the HU there is a potentiometer to adjust the gain of the door chime, it is mentioned in the installation procedure for the Metra kit.

The potentiometer is actually on the Axxess box included in the Metra kit, not on the wiring harness itself.

Do you have the upgraded radio?

I turn the bass all the way up on the radio, ipod on high, and I can make my tassle in the rearview dance at 32, all three mirrors shake, and vibrate some clothing. I can make this bass turn some heads, but I do have a playlist specifically for bass...
I'm happy with the front 2 speakers, being stock. The rears are where I have my problem, seeing that the 2 6x9 SONY Xplod I put in my Cavalier did the same thing as this stock radio (shaking tassle, etc...)

The problem is the speakers are the same front and back, the back is restricted

Did everybbody else who got a hatch have the cover for the trunk area?! I asked why mine didn't have one and he said that some get them and some don't. I'm gonna be really flustered if it got taken out! But, I do really like your setup. Definitely looks good.

dude i have no idea what ur talking about on the chimes and signal noises, mine dont get any louder with the subs on, i hooked up two memphis sr10 800w each and a 500w audio pipe pushing them, also a 200w hypnotic pushing 2 6x9 DB drive speakers and it sounds great, idk what u did wrong
