I must've glanced over the part where he talked about the turn. D'oh! But yes I'm running the tune, and I have no issue with the nanny on turns. Why just today I encountered said situation, and didn't have any nanny ruin my fun.

EDIT: And I'm now realizing I must be out of it, because that was you. My previous statement still stands. I have no nanny stopping my wheels from spinning.

Last night I did a high rpm launch, spun through first mostly and then hooked in second; no nannies. maybe I'm just a lucky one.

Yeah but these guys are making quite a bit more power than you are. My Cobalt will spin 1st and grab second on stock tune, performance tune 2nd is useless, and this is with Nitto Invos

You could wire up a switch to turn ABS on or off whenever you want.

Just get two spade plugs to place in the fuse holder and install a fuse in line with the switch.

I did this for a radio I used to have in my old 75 chevy

Here is an example.

1: I cut the top off a fuse I had laying around so I could rip out the element and solder wires to the leads.


2: It's not pretty but you get the idea


3: I added some silicon to help keep the wires in place. That way if one breaks loose, they wont cross. I also added two small peaces of heat shrink tubing to keep the un-shielded wire from touching.


4: I then added another bit of heat shrink to hold it all together.


Now all you have to do is run wire to a switch in the cab and place a fuse holder in line somewhere.

Great info. The traction control sounds eerily similar to the traction control garbage on my old SVT Focus. Same deal...turning it off didn't really turn it off and the only way around it was pulling the fuse for the ABS. I don't think anyone ever found a work around on that unfortunately. I had asked for the delete with a flash about 3-4 years ago and they said it couldn't be done. Hope you guys can figure it out with the Sonic/Cruze.

You must have had a later 04. My 03 SVT was tuned by Turbo Tom at Focus Power and he was able to completely disable the TC. The tuning for the later 04's was a little different, therefore they were not able to turn off the TC completely

It's nice that they have fuses in there for heated seats, sun roof, rear wiper, flex fuel, TCM, Fog lights, and remote start when I have non of that

the ABS computer cuts power, we aren't exactly sure how. I think it pulses the brakes.

The reason why you still get some torque reduction with the ESC system disabled is due to the engine controller, not the ESC module.

The engine controller will cut torque delivery on it's own without the ESC system intervening. Eventhough the ESC is turned off, the module still sends out wheel speeds and a overall vehicle speed. If the engine controller sees a difference between the front wheel speeds and the rear with the throttle in WOT or close to it, the ECM will cut torque out.

The reason you get all the power you want when pulling the ABS fuse is because you are completely shutting down the ESC module so it is not sending out any wheel speed information for the ECM to act on.

Thank you savage. Now i have my next project, I am going to wire me a fused switch from inside the cabin to eliminate it when i want to have some fun. Now i just need to go outside and find a good spot to mount it.
