Meth is really not needed it's just complicating things I've never ran meth in any of my Hondas and they made good power with out it, just tune and tune somemore meth is not the answer tuning is
The 1.8 pcm is limited with a lot of things. But when you get to the point of tuning start off with only the maf and work your way up to the 3bar map you don't want to over do the build or youll never get it finished.
you're correct it's not needed. usually I don't throw my counter opinion in here. but meth imo is a must for longevity of a n/a motor that's FI if you're trying to make decent power. It doesn't complicate anything whatsoever. tune without meth for 93 and have a cheap 50/50 water/meth setup that comes on boost around 4 psi, they're ridiculously simple to hook up and no extra tuning is needed. can get a 5 gallon drum of meoh for 50-70$ that will last 6 months. can use smaller jets. there's too much added security. mixing a higher octane rating fuel and dispersing heat in the combustion chamber, the cleaning effect of methanol in the intake tract and turbine, lowering intake temps etc. It makes absolutely no sense to me to not buy a used 50-100$ pump/kit on ebay/CL. especially with thousands already into the project.
But I do understand the logic, some people have extremely valid cases against why they don't buy 120$/month health insurance either.
edit:
also, if they try tuning the MAF it's going to drop down to base tables anyway once in boost, if this is like any other n/a gm ecm. better to just start with and keep SD tune, KISS method. another point I forgot to add, is the IAT sensor in the MAF or similar location in our cars? if so, you may want to plumb for a new IAT in the intake before the manifold area. another benefit of meth, can spray in multiple locations, and one before the IAT to cool the charge. again talk to your tuner about the MAP and IAT I'm sure he'll give you the right info.
