The body control module? Is that the computer replaced? I wonder if consideration has been given to replacing the sensor(s) especially as their individual cost is a third of what they were ten years ago.

Although if OnStar is getting an accurate reading . . . hm, you are right, it is goofy. You would think if OnStar can receive an accurate reading that the car itself would.

Well they have had my car since Monday morning and have put over 100 miles on the car to try and trouble shoot. No answere yet but will update.

you need to purchase a tool that the dealer uses so the computer can learn the tires location on the vehicle. I do not think it is cheep. I saw them use it on my car when they were trying to trouble shoot the TPMS

Don't know about shipping, but that is the tool. There was a time a heavy duty electro-magnet worked and it may still work. I don't know.

Takes longer to get the tool from the work area to the service write up area than it does to set the sensors.

Well, its Thursday and the dealer still has the car. Boy this problem is driving them nuts.

Okay, I got my car back and this is what they did. They totally reset the body control module which I like to call the master computer. I think this master computer is going to drive me nuts. They felt that the tire pressure sending units were okay because the On Star app read the correct pressure. They even had a Tec from GM there trying to figure it out
The TPMS seems to be working okay but I have not let any air out of one of the tires to see if I can set it off. I will try that on Friday and see what happens.
Now the Bad:
The master computer will not let me reset the trip mileage indicator. I can only now do that with the black button on the speedometer. If you go through the process that you are supposed to, it resets whatever you have in the top window.

Hmm I can't reset the trip without using the black button either but I thought that was normal n it always reset what I have on time unless I select the bottom one

That's normal. You can only reset the trip odo with the black button in the tach.

Just wondering if there is any way to take the program out of the BCM for the TPMS, cause i just got new wheels for my car and would like to not to have to spend another 150-200 for 4 new sensors.

If I got another set of sonic factory rims with the factory TPMS, would the sensors need to be taken out to be re-programed to work with my Sonic? Or do they get programed while inside of the rim? And once the new sensors are re-programed, does that mean that my old set of rims will no longer read with the Sonic until they are re-programed?

I just didnt get any TPMS sensors installed. If the govt. mandates them, they can pony up the money to have them put in every wheel. All it takes is a little common sense, I check my tire pressures every time I stop to get gas (once a week). Which is usually right when I leave my house so the tire temps are still cool.

the dealer told me that the buzzard will chime constantly if you dont have the sensors in. is this true??

i have 17" ltz wheels and dont want to remove my tpms from my 15" wheels.
i'm wanting two sets of tires (winter/summer).

if the only thing that comes on is the light i can live with it.

All I see is the light, its just a solid yellow tire light above the Stabilitrak light. No Buzzers.

Nanny-lights are stupid, oil life gauges are stupid... I can live with TC and Stabilitrak, its nice in the wet and snow.

Seriously, why do you require a TPMS system but not an engine temp guage? Id much rather know my engine temp than tire pressure. Especially since I can hop out with my digital gauge and get the exact pressure to one tenth of a psi!

Here is what I understand:

If your tires do not have TPMS sensors, the light will come on after a minute or so of driving, and blink 3 times. It will then stay on since it cannot detect a sensor and simply stay on all the time.

If you have TPMS sensors but they arent mated to your vehicle, or it senses a low pressure it will come on and continuously blink while making an intermittent chime that will eventually stop (like if you dont buckle your seatbelt).

We must be saved from smoking cigarettes or driving on low pressure tires, otherwise we will lose our right to shoot each other, and we can't have that, can we.
