Oil filter

Good day everyone.
looking for some advice.
I was doing an oil change on my GF 2014 LT 1.8L, everything went well but when I tried to remove the oil filter it just would not come out, it did not move whatsoever. The filter looks like it’s seized, idk how long it’s been since the last oil change because she just got the car in march.
the filter looks way to dirty.
any suggestions.

The filter can be a tight fit, which is a good thing as too loose of a filter could mean that unfiltered oil could be bypassing. Could be even more so if completely gunked up. Some twisting and gentle rocking motions should help it break free. Gentle is the operative word as there is plastic in there that you don’t want to break. Also I find that the service interval is way too long for oil changes. I drive a lot myself, so I cut the interval in 1/2 for the oil changes. First time I changed the oil I was on the same boat, That was the next day after I purchased the vehicle. Filter was completely gunked and seized. A bit of gentile rocking and twisting freed it up. Never had a problem since.
