Maybe it could be an entirely different thing that goes in more like the rest of the data.. it would still record the date as when you enter it, and function the way you have it intended (totally get it) but just as another piece of data for the user's info only. I only have one fillup recorded at the moment, but I don't see the date as a user, I'd like that, just for my own visual.

I just altered the dashboard view to show dates for each fillup and removed the display limit which was 10. As a compromise what I will do is allow dates to be entered manually, if left blank it will enter the date of submission automatically. To prevent gaming I will make the system remove the aggregate (competition) flag if a user tries to submit beyond 3 days in the past. The dates have always been there, I just limited the data shown to save screen space.

I appreciate the offer and may take you up on it a few months down the road. This current implementation is being written specifically for Sonics and will be donated under NDA to this website for its use. When it is complete I am leaning toward developing a version, possibly in c and mysql, that is not vehicle/community centric. This is more to get my feet wet again since I haven't done any web programming in nearly 12 years. PHP was still an infant back then but I had an affinity for it because it was so much like c. Anyway, enough rambling.

Yea. The structure is in place but it's only partially implemented. It's been slow going because I only really work on it when I'm at work during night shifts with a half hour thrown in every few days otherwise. I will meet my dealine of completion by June 1st pretty easily though. I've got day shift this weekend so I'll most likely get a good bit accomplished.

The dragstrip archive is now implemented and in a usable state. It needs some tweaks in the area of 1/8 mile sorting as it currently only sorts based on 1/4mi ET. For those of us who will frequent 1/8 mile tracks our results will be unsorted at the, most likely, top of the list. I haven't tested that yet, but assume based on 0 being a "better" time than 14 seconds it will throw them to the top. :banana:

Anyway, some tweaks and polish and it should be good. I've yet to decide on how to handle submissions of "proof", slips, etc. At first I had strongly considered allowing images to be directly uploaded and stored in the database. I'm leaning toward slotting for external image links to time slips from photobucket or wherehaveyou, even youtube I guess. That will be concluded when I get to finalizing it.

* The dragstrip submission/archive is in a nearly completed state. There is a minor bug in sorting 1/4 mile times; it sorts by 1/8 mile first so if one does better in the 1/4 but slower than another in the 1/8, the fastest 1/8 is on top. Minor, but I'll fix it later.

* CarData is now a requirement. The submission forms should forward users with no cardata to the form to enter their car information. You can have multiple loadouts (profiles) but it is slightly wonky as there is no indicator yet. You can, however, change the loadout name when modifying or entering cardata and it will create a new loadout/modify loadout of that name. It does not recall yet; that's something I'll have to get to tomorrow.

* The MPG Submission Form has been reduced with the full implementation of CarData. You'll no longer have to fill in all your car's details on each submission; just select your cardata loadout and tank details.

* Fillup list view, leaderboard, etc also now retrieve loadouts from cardata. If you see entries with NA in the details, the user does not have a cardata entry.

What's left to do?
** Allow users to edit their submissions. <-- more tweaking really, everything is in place for this, I had to finalize forms and methods for reuse before implementing.

** Awards system <-- This will likely come last

** Admin functions <-- Partially implemented

** Too much to list? There's quite a few tidbits to finish up: cosmetics, functionality, navigation, the dashboard, and so on...

Bugs was apparently an understatement as very little functioned. All that is corrected now. I was rushed yesterday when I trimmed and joined a few data tables; I didn't update all queries involved with the database changes. I spent a few minutes today correcting it.

Everything 'should' work that is implemented now. I started working on the awards system and it parses about a dozen; lifetime single tanks, current month single tanks, and previous month single tank. I've just started on it so the complex queries will come next.

It will be available for testing tonight from 8pm to 5am EST.

I've found that that will happen occasionally when I'm jumping from one wifi to another without restarting the webserver. I'm using bit web server on the tablet that is serving and I have a feeling that the problem arises from its key checking method and the ip address changes cause it to go into lockdown. I've been restarting the webserver when I go from place to place and must have forgotten last night.

I had a fairly slow night at work tonight and got a bit accomplished on the app. You can now edit/delete fillups and the backend is 100% secure. Only you or an admin can modiy or delete your records. Cardata has been portalized; you'll now be greeted with your Loadout list and options to modify, delete, or add new via a combo box and buttons. The backend still needs a tad more security; about a 5 minute job. I also need to implement a cardata viewer so everyone can see your loadouts. I have lifted some restrictions on text inputs like notes, usernames, dragstrip name, etc; it will now allow use of spaces, periods, underscores, commas, and dashes. I'm tight on security and am obsessed with preventing the ability to inject into sql/php. I will never allow $, %, &, parentheses, curly braces, grave marks, single or double quotes, or semi-colons. Sorry $ub$onic, or rather ubonic as it strips them out. :banana:

So far the app is up to 131,273 bytes of code. I can trim it substantially by functionalizing everything, but it's not necessary. Some chunks will be removed as I optimize it though.

What's left to do?
* Cardata viewer
* Filtering form for mpg results which will allow users to query the database based on vehicle options
* Complete the awards system: It's in a very basic state right now, intermediate level sql queries are required for what's left
* CPM (Cost Per Mile) Calculator: I had a rudimentary cpm calculation that I removed. It was nowhere near reliable especially if price per unit varied. I will revisit this soon as it will require a complex sql statement with seeral nested select statements.
* Plots and Graphs: YES, there will be nice ways to visualize the data. One thing I think everyone will like is a bell curve based on filtered options with their plot drawn out on the graph in each instance. You could see where you fall on the curve under different search criteria.

I failed to mention that in order to access detailed information, edit, or delete a fillup you click on the date in the fillup line. I use a style that changes the colors and fonts of hyperlinks to make it less bland looking. The links look like ordinary text until hovered over and it's not obvious they are links at a glance. Hover over stuff and you'll find the controls; for now I think it's just usernames and dates.

Assuming I didn't screw up, cost per mile should be displayed correctly on the dashboard.

I implemented cost per mile into the tank listing view so it will calculate and show CPM in US cents for every tank listed. It looks like it will be an outstanding addition in that it will allow us to extrapolate many data sets such as: is a higher octane truly worth it economically, is E85/E47 much difference when broken down, and so on. MPG alone can't answer those questions.

I fixed several underlying bugs that were mostly dealing with admin functions. An interesting one was me modifying a fillup submission by sinnerone; when I submitted the modification it switched the record ownership to me. A few alterations later and it was corrected.

The app will be available today from 8am-5pm EST. The link to it is in the original post. It's now in a highly functional and usable state so fill it up with junk, or real, data so I'll have more to test with. Create numerous accounts, cardata, fillups, dragstrip results, etc. It is at the point where it need to get blasted with information in order to see if anything is broken.

Everything that I originally intended to include is completed with the exception being the mpg filtering system. It will take an hour or two of uninterrupted time to complete. Unfortunately while at work I usually only get around 15 minute spurts of dead time. This should still allow me to figure out the best approach through trial and error testing as it's a complicated endeavor.

I finished a number of things last night. I'm quite tired right now so I can't recall everything I did. Some bugs may have been introduced, but I squashed too many to mention as well. The next step, after the filtering system, is optimizing some of the underlying actions and probably functionalizing chunks of code.

Last night I performed some optimizations on the code and functionalized parts of it. I also ingrained advertisement blocks that can be enabled, disabled, or put into all pages mode. All pages mode is unlikely to be set and I will keep it disabled for now. The locations and sizes should be familiar as it's the same 300x250 ad placement as this forum uses above the fold. Ads pay the bills but shouldn't be a nuisance.

Navigation has been increased quite extensively. You can now click on a decent number of items and bounce around. CarData Loadouts, for example, are now linked in fillup listings and other places; clicking on them will bring up the detailed car loadout for your viewing pleasure.

Early this morning I realized a way to solve my filtering dilemma. I did some preliminary testing that has proven very successful. This evening I will have the filtering system completed. After it's done there isn't much at all to do. Huzzah! :banana:

I installed apache and php on my laptop so it can host the app without interruption. The same url, http://173.81.176.133:8080/, can be used to access it. It will be up and accessible 24/7 from now on.

The filtering system is in a fully functional state. You can filter fillup results in any combination by modelyear, style, trim, engine, transmission, and accessories. It needs some minor tweaks; I forgot to add tunes and a filter exclusion option on accessories. For your viewing pleasure it displays the sql query after the form is submitted and processed. It was necessary to work out bugs and I left it in temporarily so people can see how much of a PITA it was.
