Hi all,
I have a 2020 Sedan with RS package with 29k miles on the clock. Since the day I took delivery, on a cold day I would notice a "thunk" sound from the rear. The noise would go away as the vehicle was driven and things warmed up. As time went on, I started to notice the "thunk" would manifest on warmer days and for longer periods of time. Now it does it all of the time. It sounds like a rattling shock absorber. The dealer tech checked it out, didn't notice any leaking or seal damage, but still recommended replacement due to the noise. The service writer is trying to save me money and told me that as long as the shock assembly isn't leaking to just live with the noise. BTW the cost to replace the rear shocks would be about $600.
I would expect to get around 60k miles from struts/shocks. I do live in the north-east and we have our potholes. Or more recently - warped "speedbumps" but I do my best to avoid them (love the narrow track for that).
Any thoughts on this quality issue?
