Radiator fan

So my radiator fan starting wobbling real bad last night and it is hitting the shroud and sounds terrible.

My question since it is sunday.

Is the radiator fan covered under the powertrain warranty.
Im sure it's not because that would be logical.

If it's not couldn't I just run the damn thing till it quit cooling and caused some real damage that they would have to fix.
Sorry for the rant. I'm just disapointed.

I highly doubt it and it's not logical. With that logic so is the fuel pump, battery and steering wheel.

Good luck with "causing some real damage" because if you allow it to overheat it's all on you. I suppose setting the car on fire and expecting GM to replace it under warranty is also logical to you.

yeah, don't run the A/C or defrost until it's fixed and limit any driving. Your fan will turn off and on as the engine needs cooling, so if it becomes stuck or inoperative you can do some serious damage, and without a temp gauge (F"cking GM!) you'd only know when the light goes on..

If you pop your hood, and take a look you'll see the fan blade and motor itself housed in a plastic cradle. Is the looseness just the blade while the motor is secure, or does the entire motor assembly move freely? I suspect you may have lost a couple of the screws which hold the motor on the cradle..... It's pretty easy to see & access... take a gander. Engine cool...car off!

Im just asking if it's under warranty before I go ordering parts.
To natesriv. Everything is secure. Even when I try to wobble the fan blade it doesn't move much by hand but I guess it doesn't take much.
I was going to take it apart but I will wait till I either order a new one or take it to chevy.

Also I have an ultra guage so I can watch my Temp.

the Google is amazing: http://m.chevrolet.com/owners/warranty-details.html it doesn't identify the fan directly but it is considered part of the radiator.... so no it is not covered.

If you ignore the fan issue and the radiator causes motor failure you're really effed then. Unless the water pump is the cause of failure you'll just cost yourself to spend more in repairs.

Open the hood and turn it on, then turn on defroster (this'll turn the fan on) is the fan/motor assembly secure? The point is to find out WHY it's making noise, bad fan or loose assemblies?

I told you the fan being covered WASN'T LOGICAL.
This means, NO.

I also told you not to hose your motor as you'll be hurting yourself.

Not *always*.
Only when I read a post that puts me in that mode.
BTW, he handed me that crown 3 weeks ago today. I chose wisely!

But you and I are in that multi-post range (besides Eric who was ~10K posts!) where we've seen the same question over and over. It's better to be a guru then a gur'meh my friend

But this is unique in that I've never seen a fan post before. My old Ford Contour has crappy fans, so I'm interested. I don't know why a fan would hit the shroud...so I want to know why, so if it happens to me I'm prepared...

Besides, nobody, NOBODY who comes to this site, plays by the rules and asks a question/rant should ever feel like they did something wrong...
