radio dead with burn plastic smell?

Hi folks,

We have had our 2013 sonic for a short period of time and have put on about 4k miles. Tonight, while driving, the radio shut off and the entire unit seemed to go down. At the same time, we smelled a strong burning smell... like melting plastic. Also, the clicking noise when we used the blinkers stopped. Any ideas? Are these types of issues common at this stage of the cars life?

Nope, hit the dealer.

As they taught me in college, electronics run off of smoke. Once the smoke has been let out, the device will no longer function. I got my money's worth there.

Your problem is certainly not normal! Which radio do you have?

Your turn signal clicking (and warning chimes) run through the radio, so if it's toast these alerts will no longer function.

So, if I replace the standard radio with my AM/FM/CB, I will lose the chimes and turn signal click function?
