Is that bulletin strictly for the 1-2 grinding? I ask because I wonder if this would affect my problems with reverse and the occasional trouble with smooth engagement I have. Is it for both the 6 speed and the 5 speed transmissions?

I guess I'll just have to see if I can get my car in sometime between work and school. It seems impossible to get any dealers to even look at anything unless there's a code, even the tranny...

Just call your dealer with bulletin number and your vin in hand, and they'll be able to help.

I got my car 3 weeks ago and they really really want me to fill out the satisfaction survey....and now I will. I'm sooo sooo happy this resolved the problem. No more grinding. You just need to crawl up the dealers a#% sometimes. Point out they are the dealer, you sold me this car (they got money from Chevy), it's under warranty, and this isn't normal and not acceptable. He told me he was looking into it and I called every day, if there's no solution I want to return my car within the 30day window so hurry up. Next day, solution FOUND

Just swapped my fluid out today, makes a world of difference. I'd suggest swapping in the redline fluid to everyone. I paid $26 for the two quarts and it literally takes 15 minutes to change out.

Anybody have the text from this bulletin or basically the procedure to fix it...just curious..

I haven't read all 11 pages but....I HAD the issue and had the dealer research and found a service bulletin about the shifter cable, dropped it off for an hour and picked it up no more "grinding/ratcheting." I'm thinking the heavier fluid is just quieting the noise. I told the dealer of that remedy when I took it in last week and they inquired w/ GM and they DIDN'T approve of that solution.

Good catch on the bulletin. Did they say you couldn't change to redline fluid.... Still sounds like a good thing unless it voids warranty.
