Slight popping noise while braking

Around 30k miles I have experienced subtle popping noise coming from the front end of my 2013 Sonic sedan when braking normally. Is this caused by worn front sway bar plastic links?

Sway bar end link failures can usually be audible with clanking noises when going over speed bumps. I've read that this is a common problem with these subcompacts. There may even be a recall on them...other members may confirm this.

In my case it is not a clunking noise, only slight popping and only when braking. So it may be some other issue.

Doesn't really sound like end link bushings. Are you able lift the front of the vehicle and do some hands on inspection? Have someone in the driver seat replicate driving condiitions while the front wheels are off the ground as you inspect steering, suspension, and braking components from ground level. Be safe with jack stands and wheel chucks of coarse. I've sourced many noises/problems this way.
