Awesome just ordered a UltraGauge for myself. I was looking into a odb2 anyway, I was lucky to come across this thread !

Also bought a Satechi mount off Amazon, $9.99, the smaller one designed for 3.5 to 5.5 inch smartphones. It takes my Galaxy SIII very comfortably, and attached nicely once I figured out I had to remove the thin piece of plastic on the mount (although if you attach it to glass, you can keep that piece of plastic on). Without the plastic the mount is kind of gooey, so bear that in mind if you keep changing your mind. It MIGHT fit up to a Galaxy Note but I'm not sure. I have decided on putting it in the top center of the dashboard above the crash avoidance warning system as that seems to be the best for visibility without taking my eyes off the road, but may yet switch it to one of those cubby holes either side of the radio.
I wanted my smartphone to sit close to the instrument cluster, so the first mount I used I sticky-suctioned it to the floor of the LHS cubby by the stereo. This worked great ergonomically, until the hot summer hit. This lifted the glue, causing the phone to land in my lap every time I hit the gas pedal.
I ended up modding the cubby by putting a RAM ball mount (RAM-B-347U) on the back face, a 3" arm, and a RAM-B-238 for the extension out the cubby. I mounted the RAM-B-238 to a ProClip USA phone holder (which required drilling & tapping the RAM-B-238 to mate to it).
The RAM-B-347U is sized perfectly to sit on the back wall of the cubby at the bottom (rotated 90 degrees, so the "RAM" logo reads bottom to top). Some dis-assembly of the dash and drilling is required.

Dragging this one from the dead. It's now my turn to tackle this project. I use the GPS on my phone constantly, and now want to see if anyone has and new ideas. One thing I want to incorporate is a Qi charger. Wiring it up isn't a problem, but I need to mount it in a place where I can drill an inconspicuous hole. I'm thinking the right side cubby so far. I wouldn't mind the a/c blowing on it some, just to help keep the phone cool.

I used a cheapo vent mount for my galaxy s4. Only use it when I use the gps.
I have my "credit card" mount for the ultra gauge that I hope to put in the DIY section. That's uses the credit card slot under the stereo. Don't know if that's still there with the my link folks. Its a bit too low for gps navigation.
