so many people tell how it's a waste to put money into my sonic but I love my car I think they have alot of room for hp no one looks at Hondas in that way they have 1.6l 1.8l what's your thoughts
So tired of getting haters over my choosing to build my sonic

My Sonic gets some attention but always positive. My Corvair gets constant attention, also positive, even those times it has stalled out due to vapor lock. But the Sonic gets less than a tenth when compared to the Corvair.
So far no one has told me I am wasting money on the Sonic.

I live in ky where mud trucks and muscle cars is the in thing idk tho I'll buzz around in my sonic and smile lol

A lot of money in my sonic that I know I will never get back but it hasn't stopped me. My sonic makes me happy. My money used to buy designer shoes and purses. I get way more compliments on my car now then I ever did on my shoes or purses. I would do it all over again if I had the chance.

Thanks to all lol just gets old I had a 240sx eclipse honda s got the same then too but this sonic is so fun to drive I love it about to dig into the suppinson next and to the trunk sonics more room for nos or cry co2 lol

Modding a car never a good investment, I think we all know that. One of the reasons I modded my Sonic was that I wanted a fun car with excellent MPG's to commute in. The mods just add so much more to the fun to drive aspect and makes it a very enjoyable car for commuting in. In this car, time slips dont matter that much to me. Its all bout the overall package. Yes you can put the same money into a lot of other cars and get much more hp per $ but you will be compromising in other areas (MPG's, Turn key reliability, Practicality, Handling, Looks)
Another reason for me, is i get tired so seeing the same mods done to the same cars. I have 30k miles 1.5 years and have yet to see another modded Sonic, i did see one Cruze with a CAI and Cat back at a car show, but that is it. I have people ask me all the time "what kind of car is that?" Seeing built LSX motors, Mustangs, EVO, and STI's are so common here that people barely take notice. Isnt that part of the reason we in the car culture modify cars, to make ours unique?

The only reason for the hate in building a sonic is because they don't see the potential or understand the car as a whole. So if anything just ignore the hate and do what you want.

People in my area have learned that it's pointless to bash me, because they know that I 100% don't care what they say. my sonic is the 3rd vehicle i've had in a row that would easily get a lot of hate, few people tried bashing my cobalt when i had it, but i'm old school, i don't do the **** talking thing, if you think my car is a piece of crap compared to yours, let's line them up and see. i tell people at the local meets talk is cheap, back it up or don't even waste your breath talking to me

I get the same thing.. "what kind of car is that??" And when I tell them it's a chevy... they always look so suprised.. go figure. . But the car is YOURS not theres... if it makes you happy. .. that's all that matters [emoji6] I love my sonic... and it's a blast to drive..[emoji41]

They tell you that because it totally is a waste of money.
To the dad/old person/nagging female type using the poor investment argument I give the mattress perspective: I spend 6-10 hours a day sleeping/in my bedroom, so I'll pay to have a nice mattress, amenities, etc in the bedroom. Most people would agree that is something positive to spend money on, makes you happy and comfortable. But this is an even worse investment than a car when you think about it. There's plenty of free bedding on craigslist/garage sales, or you could sleep on the floor. I also spend 1-2 hours of my day in my car and I want it to be comfortable and make me happy, so when I have the money I like to make it nicer. The difference is a car is a lot more than a mattress, it's generally our lifeline if we have long commutes or poor public transport.
To the hater, usually younger person, vehicle type/model specific. They're emotionally immature and unstable. They're essentially doing the exact same thing as you, but to a different vehicle. If they can't see the fun in having fun, then those aren't ppl you want to associate with, dont waste your time on them.

I see what you did there lol and yeah I noticed something though, people bashed my ss but love the sonic. Why? Well I put some thought into it, and everyone that bashed the balt are the same ones that love the sonic, and they all drive old slow ratty hondas. Now I'm not bashing on hondas, like any car they can be nice, but these are far from it. I think they like the sonic because they think they're faster than me now. I tell them its slow as **** (because to me it is compared to the ss) but with the efi live tune its literally putting out twice the horsepower and almost 3x the torque of their cars lol

For the most it's all about appearances. Sorry I didn't put put $3k into my car to make it "look" fast. Nothing I've done to my car would even be noticeable other than exhaust. On another note, no Honda owner has a right to hate on a Sonic. They are essentially quite similar.

yeah, and if my exhaust wasn't so loud, people would think it was lowered and that was it. the exhaust is the only thing that gives away that it isn't stock lol
