Sonic LTZ vs Cruze Eco wheel weight

Both the these wheels are forged, both are 17x7 and 42 offset. The Cruze Eco wheel is supposed to be 17.8lbs.

Does anyone know how much a Sonic LTZ wheel weighs?

I'm shopping for a set of light weight wheels for autox tires and I had been thinking the Cruze Eco would be the best choice but I would love to know what my LTZ wheels weight without having to pull a wheel and tire and have it unmounted.

My guess is they all weigh more than the eco 17's.

It has been pointed out to me that the stock LTZ wheels are 17x6.5 and the Cruze Eco wheels is 17x7.

Based on this info, the cruise eco wheel would be an excellent choice for autox IMO. That's more than 16lbs of unsprung weight! That being said, running the Cruze ECO 17x7 wheel bumps you into ST which is a slippery slop of mods and expenses.

Currently, the stock LTZ wheel sells for $120 on GMPARTSDIRECT.com with no core charge

and the Cruze ECO wheel sells for $235 on GMPARTSDIRECT.com with a $50 core charge.

The guy on ebay raised his prices to $175 a wheel and doesn't seem willing to bargain. He said the $110 price was a pricing error in the first few sets. He offered me $160 a wheel for a set of 4.

I can't find any light weight wheel options in 6.5" 5x105

At 18.7 lbs and $140, The 17X7.5 Sparco Assetto Gara is the current "off the shelf" winner in my book. Link to tire rack below:

I went with the Drag D33 at 20lbs per wheel over the Sparco because I could get five wheels for $540. Tuner wheels can go out of production without a lot of notice and I feel I need a spare wheel just in case. The Sparco would have been $700 for five. The $160 savings made the extra weight easier to accept.

I've been looking at the black Sparco Assetto Gara 16's since I got my car. Does anyone know how much TPMS sensors will be. I want to leave the ones in my stock wheels, that way I can just swap wheels as I please.

So far ... no one wants to lose the advantage of the Eco wheel for aftermarket options we have..but if it happens I'll let you know!

I recently put Cruze Eco wheels with the stock Eco tires on my GM Performance Parts Lowered (1in) Sonic RS. The weight difference is huge!

RS factory wheel + factory tire = 45.6lbs
Eco factory wheel +factory tire = 36.9lbs

Total reduction in unsprung weight of 34.8lbs!

I did it for gas mileage. The taller factory tire of the Eco, combined with the reduced weight has given me a conservative average 3mpg increase. Even with the car lowered one inch I haven't had any rubbing. But I don't drive like the Dukes of Hazzard either.

You shouldn't have any rubbing. The RS and the other Sonic options with 17-18 inch wheels have a slight restriction on the steering that reduces the turning radius by enough to prevent it. The only other thing that could get you would be width and the Eco tires aren't much wider.

That fuel economy should be music to the ears of other RS owners. Probably also a bit less RPM.

Remember to also get a TPMS reset tool unless you plan to have someone else do your tire rotations and changes. And make sure the tire place remembers to reset the sensors.
