Sonic was just dropped off at SPEC!

SPEC has received the Sonic and will begin disassembly today. Based on what they find, they will need to order materials to build the FW. Turnaround is hopefully less that two weeks, but these things can sometimes take longer than estimated. I'll keep every updated.

Hahahah I didn't know either until the word Spec popped into my brain and I realized what this was all about, it happens! :p

I have heard hit and miss reviews about spec products. Anything that is going to persuade me towards spec vs clutch masters ?

I've had both on my other cars, clutch masters did its job for 3 years of very aggressive driving and the SPEC clutch is still in my car for the past 3 years, but I haven't driven it hard the past year and a half so I can't really give a good review on that one.

I also had exedy and that didn't last as long, the springs just broke and damaged my light weight flywheel. I don't think they make clutches for Sonics though.

Best clutch I've owned has to be ACT. Someone should try and see if they can make one.

I had a great Exedy/Daikin clutch in my Subaru for a while. You may have just gotten a dud. I'm sure they will make one for the Sonic eventually, but our cars are new enough that most of the usual replacement parts aren't being produced yet.

This should be wrapped up soon. At the end of last week, they were analyzing materials for the flywheel and deciding on how much mass it should have.
If it's too light, it may effect drivability, and/or cause the trans to rattle when in neutral or deceleration in gear so finding a balance point is crucial. The goal is much improved performance and civility.

The goal is closer to 15lbs. There are people with the CM flywheel that have experienced a good bit of trans noise with their 13lb unit so going less than that would not be what we want here.
Around 15lbs should give a large does of perf. and keep trans noise at a minimum.

From their literature, they state it to be 13lbs.
