Sparco pedal install

Forgive my ignorance but what aspects do most of these aftermarket pedals change? I saw one pedal kit moved the throttle closer to the brake pedal, do they also move the throttle out/closer to the seat?

I'm sure that it will still feel like what ever foot wear you choose to where except a lot more slippery when it's raining without any rubber on the aluminum peddle.

These pedals have rubber nubs that stick out so your foot is always on rubber and aluminum. I've found they actually grip much better when wet and/or cold than the stock pedal covers, that was one of my reasons for getting them.
I also wear very minimal footwear, usually Vibrams outside of work and extremely thin-soled Vivobarefoot shoes when I'm at work, so I can feel every little bump that is under my feet. I believe most driving shoes are quite thin and will also allow you to feel at least some of the texture of a pedal.
And the gas pedal is just following the stock line, which is already a little curved. It is a little too angled, in the future I may try to re-attach it to line up better with the brake. The problem is that it's hard to do that and still have it clear the carpeting and such when the pedal is all the way depressed.

They don't move the throttle out closer to the driver, they do get it closer to the brake, and all the pedals are wider and larger in general.
I don't race this car at all and I really don't "need" these, I just like Sparco stuff and I thought the stock rubber coverings on the brake and clutch were terrible and did not provide much grip especially when cold. If the rubber on your shoes is cold and wet and the rubber on the pedals is cold, the grip is just insufficient. With these I have good grip even in that situation, due to the design and texture of the pedals. I also thought the uncovered plastic gas pedal was just lazy on GM's part.
Ideally I wish that GM made their aluminum pedals a little wider, then I would have bought them instead because they're so much easier to install.
At some point I will switch these out for something less MacGuyvered, hopefully DDMWorks will make something. If any of these come loose at all I'll just take them off and buy the GM ones, I don't want to mess with a less-than-secure pedal setup.

You're welcome. I think I might get the GM pedals until something better comes out. I'm not liking the heads of the screws sticking out from these pedals. Oh well, I'll hang them on my walls or something.

Go get some flush set screws or button heads now that you know it works, also a locking nut would make sure nothing is moving in the future.

Edit: pics for now. Write up is a work in progress. I'll do the full install write up later.

Ractive pedals. $12-$15 incl shipping on Ebay. Good quality. Easy install, but terrible install instructions, especially for the throttle pedal.

The clutch and brake covers have these brackets on the back. You just loosen the top two vertical arms all the way but leave them attached and remove the bottom horizontal bracket. Then slide cover over the pedal with the two vertical arms on either side behind. Secure the two vertical arms with the horizontal bracket and tighten all screws.






Overall they feel great and solid, and look great IMO. I will probably cut down the screws on the bottom of the back of the clutch pedal since they are digging into the carpet a bit. I'm also going to slide the clutch pedal cover over a bit since my shoe has caught on the little protrusion on the lower left a couple times going from the dead pedal to the clutch

They look good, I don't know how I like the bracket the use for install and I would adjust the gas pedal as well it seems really high IMO.

That could just be the angle of the pic. The gas pedal bracket has about 1/2"-3/4" vertical adjustment. I positioned the bottom flush with the stock pedal. I'll think about moving it down some, but it doesn't really bother me where it is.

The throttle mounting bracket is held on by a supplied adhesive pad and I added a bit of 3M mounting tape, and then it comes with a metal strap that wraps around the pedal and screws in. Then the cover bolts to the bracket. In the pic you can see the extra length of the strap sticking out, and I have it just bent back for now, but I will probably cut it off. Overall it feels pretty secure.

Firstorbit, it looks nice. You'll have to find a dimpled pad for your dead pedal to match. You could even cut some slats across the bottom to match the pedals.

I didn't read through the whole thread sorry, but ThatTmoGuy, the clamps you showed were the ones you made right? They didn't come with the pedals, I ordered the same ones you have so just making sure if I need to make my own clamps or not.

Those clamps came with the pedals. They come with most pedals aside from the nice high dollar sets.
