Speaker upgrade solution

Would this amp be to strong for the stock speakers? There would probably be a little bit of time before I could do the speakers after getting amp.

I installed this amp with stock speakers and it rocked so much I went out and bought the matching RF 6.5 inch speakers.
When I installed them they were not even half as loud as the stockers.

Yes, too much power if you listen loud long time.

Little bit of time, yes. I'm going on a month. Stockers sound ok so far but waiting for them to blow so I can put nicer but not nearly as loud speakers in? ... not fair!

I fell in love with crescendo amplifiers. Stronger as in overbuilt to where they can run on 18.5 volts and can go down to .5ohm when it's only rated at 1ohm but they warranty it for two years at .5 ohm. I bought the bass clef bc3500 and it's a beast producing over 5000 watts at 14.4v at a 0.5ohm load. Best thing is their price! This is their 4 channel, it's 300 to EACH of the 4 channels at 2 ohm or 180 to each of the 4channels at 4ohms... All for 419$! Guarantee you will evoke a customer of theirs for life it's just the best amps I've ever used, and I've been doing this for a long time..

I would be suprised if I got them switched.

I too wanted to keep my factory head unit functional so I spliced the into the radio harness, cutting, splicing, and soldering one wire at a time, matching all striped wires to the ridged side of the speaker wire I used, ...as each pair has a striped ground wire.

How do you check for sure if speaker conductor is pos or neg?

Negatives usually have black stripes running down them in my experience.

This amp turns on the exact same way the Monsoon in my Jetta did. Made an aftermarket stereo install SO much easier!

You can either use a tone generator or a 9 volt battery. Just touch it to the terminals and see which way it moves. Like the wire you think is positive to the positive terminal and negative to the negative. If it pops outwards, its wired correctly, if it pops inward, its wired backwards.

Ok so this is my second post and I am not a car dude or a stereo dude I am computer dude so this is all Greek to me. I saw the Amp PRB300X4 everyone was talking about. I am trying to go to a local dealer around here for installation so I want to have a decent set up but still keeping fairly low in price. I listen to heavy metal music so I am looking for something to go with that. Tired of hearing rap everywhere I go.:banana: so throw me some ideas if u guys could. Remember not a car dude break it down for me please.

First off, yes I know this post is over a year old. But I have been searching for a fix for the lack of volume with the factory setup (mostly the rear speakers). This little amp looks just like what I have been searching for. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this amp and what speakers they would recommend to replace the factory. Also if would be nice if anyone had some pics of the amp installed.

had mine installed by a local guy at a dealership, cost me like 100$ , this was months ago. The amp made a huge difference and he mounted it below the glove box on the left side. It is reachable to adjust with just a screwdriver. Problem now is i believe i need to replace the speakers. I've noticed everytime i use my USB port for my ipod many of the songs have way way too much bass. It's odd because not all the songs are like that and the cd player sounds fine. Granted many of my songs are "burnt" some play with so much bass that they are unlistenable. I'm guessing its speaker time, but just wanted to say the amp is great.

I replaced all my speakers with polk sb180s and used a sony digital amp for an extra 50w to all speakers. Easy install. Also the digital amp gives you 3 outputs for front rear and sub rca cables. I'm currently running a Rockford Fosgate R2 shallow sub and in the hatch it fits perfectly in that hideaway space.

Does anyone know if you have to buy a new holder for your door speakers if you swap them out with after market ones? or will they fit in the stock harness?

Generally, aftermarket speakers will come with a few holes in them already. This opens up the options as to where you can install them using existing holes in the doors.
