Stalling in the rain

We have a 2012 Sonic LTZ Turbo with 80,000 km (50,000 miles) on the clock. We have owned the car since new. Since we have owned it we have been having problems with it in the rain. The first time this occurred we were in a Chicago thunderstorm, hit a large puddle and the car lost power and went into limp mode. After 10-15 minutes, all was good and we drove away. The car was repaired at the dealer, under warranty. They replaced the TAC module and replaced the throttle body assembly. Since then, the car has had the same problem, on occasion, and again after about 15 minutes it drives fine. The car is still under the GM Plus extended warranty.

Has anyone else out there experienced that.

Never heard of it except from you. Does it just stall or are there symptoms of rough idle or anything of that nature?

Have the sparkplug wires have been checked? If they are somehow damaged or cracked, it can cause running issues when moisture gets in there from splashing through puddles.

The car doesn't stall it goes into safe or limp mode to get you to the side of the road. It continues to idle but will not drive more than a few miles per hour until, I guess it dries out. No rough idle.

I have hit limp mode a few times for other reasons. Generally all I had to do is turn the engine off and then back on to clear it. Of course at first I did not know that, and I once drove 20 miles on the 20 hp the limp mode allows you

Thanks to both of you for your input, the car goes to the dealer today under the extended warranty.

:banana:The car is in the dealership and they tell us that the Turbo needs to be replaced. So they gave us a rental for the time it takes to repair it.

The car is home and after a new turbo and all the things that go with it, it runs better then new. It had something to do with the waste gate tolerances. Parts alone were close to $1,500.00. Glad we bought the extended warranty.
