I'm getting the 512GB, found one refurb'd for $1300. I'm currently filled to 320GB on my 6 year-old MacBook.

I prefer refurb'd. It generally means it's been tested harder than the ones off the shelves.

Or that it was someone else s nitemare, tested briefly cleaned up to look like new and slapped in a box.

That's not how refurbish works. But I did get a refurbished iPod touch last year, and there was a sound quality issue. Took it to the local Apple store, and they replaced it with a NIB iPod, no questions asked.

So if something should be wrong with the MacAir, I'll be getting a new one at the refurb price. So I'm not scurred.

I'm getting a MacAir next week, so I'm doing a big cleanup on my 500GB MacBook before transferring over.

Any tips on cleaning up storage. Clearing out a bunch of "movies" I don't watch has helped. But I suspect I've got tons of stuff I can just delete.

I can't figure out how to open a finder window that lists all files from largest to smallest. I feel like that would allow me to maximize my cleanup efficiency.

I suck at compute, so I need some elementary advice.

I've found this program to be quite useful in finding files and folders that are eating up space on Macs. It lists everything in the whole computer, including hidden files, if you run it as an Administrator. Only downside is that it's not free.

Update: I transferred over to the MacAir last night. Woohoo :banana:

In the process, it didn't migrate over a bunch of outdated stuff. So I have over 210GB free on my 512 space.

ZOMG!!!! I love this thing. It is a work of art. It's powerful, and I have so much at my fingertips.

I'm also excited to be able to run Windows for EZflash. I dread data-logging on my Lenovo (that I bought, solely for tuning). This laptop should make the experience much more pleasant.

I don't even know. I went to Fry's and bought the cheapest one they sold. There is nothing "wrong" with it.

I just don't know my way around PC. It's clunky. And it wants me to update some McAfee crap every time I turn it on. It took me forever to figure out how to get out of tiles. Fukkin sucks.

I bought it for like $220. Once I figure out how to use my new Mac to run EZ-flash, I'll gladly sell the Lenovo for $150. It's literally only been used for less than 2 hours.

I would suggest trying out VMWare Fusion. I installed Windows 7 under VMWare and that has worked fine for me using EZ-flash. Did the data-logging with no issues either. I find that easier than dual-booting because having to switch OSs gets to be a PITA after a while. I use a Windows VM that is a clean install as well, with no AV programs, or other stuff that could possibly interfere with EZ-flash.

Good info, thanks. I happen to know that even Vince@Trifecta prefers tuning on a Mac.

My old MacBook just couldn't handle the processing. I'm still breaking in/updating the new one, but I will be popping into this thread when I start trying to figure out the Windows stuff.

I installed Windows 7 on my Air via BootCamp.

EZFlash works flawlessly on it.

I have a 6yr old 17" MacBook Pro. First of the Intel Processors. Still runs but I use my Mac Mini and iPad more nowadays. 8gb of Ram at 433 or 8gb of ram at 1333.

If anybody has an old iPad you can actually jailbreak it and turn it download a theme that turns it into a MacBook with mouse support and all. It works pretty good. They even have a case with a keyboard that makes it look just like a MacBook. It's a pretty neat way to use an old iPad you have laying around.
