So I've found myself behind the wheel of a 2013 Malibu Eco for the week. A few things relating to the Sonic I've noticed about the interior:

1.) The bass in my Sonic is lacking.

I didn't need to drive another car to notice how lame the bass is with the stock system. Fortunately I listen to a lot of talk radio.

Looking forward to trying out a mylink system as soon as possible. Waiting for the day a local dealer gets a 2013 spark or sonic. As long as they keep up with the app support. If not I'm sure that someone will find a way to hack it.

Also waiting to see if they did anything to the sound system before I drop 1000 on the kicker stuff.

Not how it works.
The MyLink is setup to "use your smartphone for everything", but that's not entirely true.
Only certain apps will link to MyLink - As of now it will only ship with Pandora and some other silly app.

MyLink uses your phone's internet to get the data it needs.

Now as for Nav, they will be adding "Gogo Link" soon.
It will be a MyLinks pecific app in the App Store/Google Play for your phone.
The app lives on your phone and is going to be a self-contained map data set, meaning the maps won't need internet for you to plot a course and go somewhere, just your phone's GPS and the Gogo Link app - Claims to be a one-time fee, likely ~$50.
(It will however need your phone's internet to lookup things arounf you like restaurants, hotels, etc.)

Long story short, unless the app you have now is Gogo Link, it won't mean anything.
(Unless we figure out how to make MyLink specific apps on our own... )

People make apps all the time so I don't think making the app would be hard, but making it sync with the car.

But I'd be willing to get the navigator if it meant a one time fee and upgrade was feasible

I second that, the features of the MyLink radio are some that I miss and would pay to have swapped for the stock radio

If my 2013 ever gets here, maybe I'll hookup with a local 2012 owner and see if we can't get mine to operate in their '12.

Is the upgrade to MyLink included when it becomes available and does it have to be put in at the dealership? If it can be done "at home" is there a core charge for the original radio and is there a bcm flash charge?

I'm sorry, but I'm really lost as to who or what you're referencing.
What upgrade to MyLink?

Are you asking out loud if there is say, an upgrade path for the 2013 LS' as they normally don't have it?

I'm curious as well about upgrade paths because MyLink has built-in dependencies to the OnStar hardware as stated earlier.

Based on info available a few months ago, the first Spark models to come to the USA would not have MyLink but would be retroactively upgradeable. I do not know if the ones currently on the dealer lots have MyLink or not, but if not than should be upgradeable but I do not know what the charge would be, hence my questions addressed to the person who posted he would check out MyLink on the Spark and answer our questions if we had any.
