I like the mirror link. How do you add the app to the options on the mylink?

I also have a few questions that might be answered already, but I can't figure out:

1) Is it possible to have the radio set to XM and still have it give me directions via bluetooth? My phone is connected so I can use hands free, but since I'm not on bluetooth on mylink, I get no voice from my phone nor my radio. If not, does anyone know how to force google nav to keep voice directions on the phone, even if the phone is connected to the car?

2) If I use Mirror link, would I still be unable to show the map while listening to XM?

Your phone and navigation app needs to have option to allow HFP for bluetooth output. The A2DP (protocol used for bluetooth music streaming) doesn't support interruptions but the HFP (used for voice calls) does. The quality is poor for music but it is enough for navigation.
In the Apple Maps app you have to tap the speaker button, and then under MyLink select the switch "allow HFP" (or something like that). Sygic for iOS also have something like this in settings. I'm not sure if this will work on Android.

For Android, in Google Maps, at least, go into Settings > Navigation Settings. Play voice over Bluetooth. Disabling this should send nav directions through the phone speaker instead of to the stereo. I think this is the best you would be able to accomplish. I'm not sure of a setting to change to HFP protocol.

Another way to achieve this result is in Bluetooth settings, go into the advanced settings of your MyLink BT connection, and disable Media connection. The phone won't use A2DP at all, and again, Nav will sound through the phone.

I haven't found a way to use the car's XM and bluetooth together. It's one or the other. I have discovered a little bit of a workaround though.
The only way I've figured out how to listen to XM and directions together is to use the XM app on my phone and run that plus Waze or Google maps/directions over bluetooth.

Thanks for all the answers, everyone. I did find the button to turn off BT in the maps app, so that solves one issue. I would like to have the map show on my mylink screen, but beggars can't be choosers. Does anyone know if I pony up for bringgo, if I'll be able to view the map and be able to listen to XM, with directions overriding the music? I can't use stickytoes' workaround, because I have the basic plan and can not listen to xm from my phone.

I use bringo and listen to xm (although make sure you have your preset stations it's annoying and unsafe trying to back out and get back into bring go in traffic) the voice directions override the music just fine for me


Honestly I prefer google maps so much more and want to figure out some way to just mirror my phone .. I also wish there was a way to help decrease date usage with downloaded maps.

EDIT- It was onlyu 99 (or 1.99) for a month trial. well worth it vs buying the full app. I don't plan to purchase it (yet) in hopes of figuring out a work around for google maps on screen

A few things:

- Am I correct that the only supported apps are:
-- Pandora
-- BringGo
-- TuneIn
-- Stitcher

- Has anyone heard anything of potential updates for our MyLink units for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?

- Are there any updates for the Sonic MyLink since the 2013 model year that I should make sure my wife's Sonic has?

- Anyone else feel like cramming ALL MyLink related discussion into one thread makes it really hard to find any answers to previously asked questions? Reading 111 pages isn't a great way to find anything... I doubt I'll bother. I wouldn't be surprised if answers to my above questions exist, and I just can't find them. Seems like a MyLink forum section would be more appropriate...

I have read them all (of course I started reading them starting with the first post) and more often than not I still can not find things I know are posted.

Updating to get Carplay or the Android equivalent is unlikely. This question comes up on Corvette and Camaro forums quite often and I have yet to see a positive answer.

Those are the four I know of. BringGo works well for me but everytime I try the other three I am left bewildered and not satisfied. They each have their defenders but I am not one.

I suspect GTPprix can do what you want but you have to send the head unit to him.

Personally, I never assumed there would be any kind of major update. GM's goal is for you to buy a new vehicle, not give anyone new functionality for their existing auto for free.

It was very important for me when I was buying this car. On every MyLink/IntelliLink page you will find a part that states that more apps are coming soon. This is a big fat lie. If they wanted to create smartphone-like experience they should do all of it. Currently we have only disadvantages.

I didn't see anything in that article that said anything about older systems. I'm not holding my breath, but a lack of saying it will isn't the same as saying it won't. Unless I overlooked something, and they did say it won't...

If they don't update the older MyLink systems, I'll just put in an aftermarket system in a year or so when some reasonably priced systems come out.

Sorry if someone has the info out there because i haven't been able to find it.
Has anyone been able to hack the touch screen to utilize it as the monitor for an ultra guage or similar scanner?

Has anybody got mylink to work with the updated tunein app? Tunein totally changed the format and interface of its app awhile ago. So much so, im not quite sure if mylink is even compatible with it anymore.

Is there an mylink update im missing, or some little trick?

Btw im running android.
