The MyLink Master thread

[GTPprix]

Hey guys and gals Odd question, does anyone happen to have an extra my link radio for this application OR have a sonic and live in Metro Detroit that would like to volunteer to help unlock the whole world of my link for these vehicles? I own a company that does custom programming for nearly every module in any GM vehicle including Mylink Silverbox, MyLink Integrated and MyLink HMI based Radios.

I have nothing to sell at this time (and would become a vendor obviously) should we complete a working program for these units.

Mylink froze on me for the first time ever yesterday at 15k miles. It just stayed on the start up screen then after like 5 minutes it was still the same so I stopped somewhere to turn the car off and in again and then mylink started up like normal. I hope it doesn't happen again or often.

That happens to me on occasion. Not very often, I think twice in 21k miles. Not enough for me to worry about

You guys know there is a huge power button right? Did you try using that to turn it off and back on?

It doesn't work when that happens. At least mine didn't. I know because I tried the 1st time it did it.

Just checking cause people tend to not do the obvious when caught off guard lol.

It's kind of like your computer when it locks up, nothing works.

Alrighty I'm not the only one, thanks for replying Blue Hedgehog

I had that happen (right after a flash, got the Backup Camera BS too)--- so I pulled the fuse on the radio... Voila! Problem solved after a hard reboot... no issues for nearly 9-10 months now.

I have a question... If I replace the mylink in my sonic, how will I be able to adjust factory settings? Or will I lose that ability completely?

[Blue hedgehog]

I remember someone posting that their is a device that you can add that will let you change the settings. I don't know what it's called or where to get it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I think the info is somewhere in the last 900 posts

It's probably a module on a harness id say factory harness for aftermarket stereos are probably expensive.

Hi guys. I´m wondering if it´s possible to download the latest firmware for mylink. In my country the dealers doesn´t know anything about it.

Here in the U.S. we have to go to a dealer. Even then the dealers don't always know how to do it. We do have a member who is going to try and hack the mylink but it hasn't been done yet.

MyLink firmware upgrades are available only through a dealer and even then a chancy affair. Dealer sourced firmware downloads have turned many a MyLink head unit into a brick. If you really need to do it, I suggest carefully picking a dealer who has staff that might know what they are doing.

No one has said, and I might be wrong, but it seems to me the process for the download is unusually complex (in a GM attempt to keep virus infections from taking root?).

Has anyone attempted to build their own app yet?

Don't know about attempts, but clearly no one who has attempted has succeeded.

I downloaded the SDK for the MyLink and they do not provide clear documentation on how to upload or test on your own head unit. The apps are java based, but other than that I really can't tell you much. Has anyone tried hooking up a laptop to the USB port?

Because you dont They have to be signed and uploaded through the GM AppStore and the sdk isn't for the mylink you guys have it's for the HMI based units ie cue and next gen mylink intellilink etc

So that sucks, what is this thing based on then? I'm sure it is some sort of arm based processor running either QNX or modified android? So there really is no point in trying to create our own apps.
