I've done 125 before I chickened out, and sx sonic above in this thread reported 140, no sign of a governor. 113 in particular sounds like an unlikely built in limit, I suspect lack of power in engine or trying to accelerate in too high a gear. Admittedly though we are both driving 2012's, I guess there's a chance there's a limit built into 2013s that wasn't in the 12s?

What gear are you in when trying to hit top speed? Fourth gear is the one you want on a stock tune. Try again in fourth and report back.

I have done 126 mph so 203kmh ! On ****ty snow tires .

I think my 4th gear runs out about 80-90ish...

Another reason to get a 1.4T.

My 4th gear is good to 125. With a tune, you can go to fifth and keep going.

I didn't think they did either untill I was trying to overtake a larger HP car and they took off and kept going and I was stuck at 113, so I retried and retried and retried a few times to make sure it was not just some mistake.

But after searching forever and not getting any tags to find out more I finally made a post only to be a locked post to link in a somewhat on topic post to my question about a possible governor on the new models? And if so could a tune remove it?

A tune could remove it, you would just have to prove you have properly rated tires for the speed you want it raised to.

I guess I should add that I tried 6th, 5th and 4th gears all stayed at 113 mph just different rpms with no limit bounce or cut off. I use to have a saturn ion that had a govern at 115 and it had a cutoff bounce in rpms if it hit the governed speed.

But I am glad to hear the tune will remove it with z rated tires since I will be putting it on the road track during the summer months.

Was this 113 cap on one occasion? There was one time I couldn't get my car over like 110. That was due to road conditions, altitude, and cross wind. Other times I get up to 120+ easy.

I wouldn't want to be the passenger, 145 doesn't sound safe at all to me.

I don't call certain speeds unsafe, I call certain drivers unsafe. Whereas my gf has trouble putting the car in drive (I wont even mention her freeway driving skills), 120+ is just cruising to me.
