Are the cobalts faster than the 1.4l Sonics w/6speed?

I can tell you the cobalt has 145 hp 155tq vs the 1.4 138 hp 148tq

Ah, 90% still wishes I had my Balt
I had an N/A 2.2 with juice that hung with the big boy balts... and god do I miss it.
Stock for stock the cobalt will destroy the 1.8, not sure about the 1.4

As I recall the Cobalt SS/SC was drag limited to 145 mph. That would be more than the turbo Sonic's 124 mph.

The Turbo Cobalt SS is no joke! There's a reason they got The nickname corvette killer....They even had Brembo brakes.

But Chevy was selling 30K+ Corvettes for some of those years whn the Cobalt and the Corvette were being made at the same time; now there is a Cruze but no Cobalt and the Corvette soldiers on. On the other hand, Chevy is struggling to sell 15K Corvettes a year these past few years, so maybe it is the Cruze that is the Corvette killer? (Irony reigns supreme)

comes with 130 mph h-rated tires, the 1.8 will do 120 in 3rd

Probably was 4th, because I remember thinking I was surprised to see it pulling and I remember pulling the stick back before my gps and speedo where in the 120's, was more concerned with the road. Longest stretch of strait I've found but was surprisingly smooth up there. I think the top HP number for the 1.8L is listed at 6300 RPM so it does rev out higher than the 1.4L. Have to see what the gearing looks like to tell. To be honest I knew I wasn't going to go shift into 5th but can't recall if I found the limiter or not.

ss/sc will do the same and I am very confident in saying my base model would have given the 1.4 turbo a run for its money

I never said the cobalt was fast. Fast is relative... I don't know why the cobalt was dicontinued, my guess was chevys stride to compete with all these fuel economic Japanese cars.
My comparisons were all fair and based on my experience. Some may say it's not fair I'm comparing an Aveo to a cobalt. But that's what was brought up and I will stand behind what I stated about the cobalt and sonic.

I, personally, have the attitude that the Cruze replaced the Cobalt which replaced the Cavalier. All are/were compacts, and all are/were assembled in Ohio at the Lordstown Assembly Plant.
This is not considered to be a politically correct attitude, and I have been accused of being a troll for expressing this attitude elsewhere.
This is my opinion and please, dear people, do not try to confuse me with any facts. In this area, nothing is less relevant than the facts.
