I know I forgot to shift, then heard what sounded like an electrical fire and that's when my little orange valve went. I hit 6.5k RPM. Also anyway you could explain what turbo surge is? Because that's what Jerry said the problem was with my car, now he's tuned it differently and is slowly adding more power again.
It sounds like you may have misfired, the cylinder may have seen too much pressure shooting excessive blowby through the piston rings. When that happens, the orange check valve should burst, although the diaphragm is meant to burst instead, sometimes it doesnt.
I understand the basics of turbo surge but not enough yet about this motor and turbo to answer that question. Maybe its time to order some turbo books
My best guesses are crankcase pressure exiting the *valve seals, or even the back of valves/something to mess up valvetrain function, or excessive pressure at the PCV intake inlet causing the wastegate solenoid to function differently. I think it has to be something along the lines of the first guess, a mechanically induced boost surge, since this type of thing a few people say is* not seen in tune or logging issues. Not sure how much control the tuners have over the wastegate solenoid to see differences in pressure from healthy vs blown pcv.
