On the larger Turbo kit ,if you are not trying to make max power how much power would you make on a more reasonable tune?

To me, the 1.4T is opposite of the Honda B- & K-Series engines. It is designed for torque and without major changes, it's not going to yield big numbers. And given the 250HP of an off-the-shelf LNF, it doesn't make a great deal of sense to overwork the 1.4T. Is the engine swap unreasonable?

Or your could go LHU (12 Regal GS) and get 270/295..... But you can't find those in a salvage yard yet. I'm still waiting for the off chance that I just happen to be driving the Ex's car and an Evo X rolls up beside me, cruise control to off (high boost on) and GS mode on.... I know the outcome but it would be fun.

I see the upgrades to reach these kinds of numbers becoming cost prohibitive for many. It sounds like the 220hp range may be the upper power limits for the 1.4 (with a new clutch) without spending an absurd amount of money on engine mods.

I like the vtuner Dyno on their we page, it clearly pulls harder up top and where stock looses power at 5400 the vtuner gains till 6000.

Stock 2.4l LD9 engines love it, even at 15 PSI. I would think that 7-10 PSI shouldnt be to much for the 1.8.

A engine not designed for boost can handle up to 6psi ish before you start lifting heads . Its not the crank you have to worry about its the head bolts if you would change then over to a good set I'm sure 15 would be a easy number to reach

Seeing as how GM offered superchargers for the LD9 and L61, that were capable of producing over 6 PSI, and still maintained the remainder of factory warranty I highly doubt that a head on a modern car will lift at reasonable boost levels. I know of at least one Cavalier still running a turbo 2.4 with stock head bolts and 14-16 PSI on a regular basis. A buddies Cavalier with the L61 and "Saab turbo kit" has no problem at 10-11 PSI. His weak link at that pressure is the rods.

I am not worried about the crank in my 2.4. They have held up to several 500+ WHP builds that other have done.

It was a good rule of thumb in the older says. Ik my Cummins will lift a head at 50psi
