Uber has helped me pay off some debts as well. And Houston is a good city for uber. And the sonic a great vehicle. I couldnt agree with your post more. Meeting new people is fun and the conversations are great. I dont even consider it work cause I enjoy it so much.
That low, huh? I do understand that Uber's "no tip necessary" campaign is behind most of it. They have stated that "tips are included", which isn't always true.
I make between 50 and 100 in tips the nights I work
No, I'm talking about Uber, not your other night "job".
banana:
If I was going to drive for Uber I would at least get a commercial driver's license. And talk to my insurance agent; paying a little more to be covered much better than having them decide to deny your claim because you didn't tell them something like that.
I know a guy who drives for a real taxi company in Chicago, he made it sound like a pretty crappy deal, with a minimum he needed to bring in each week, if he didn't make that much he was supposed to pay it out of his own pocket. It frankly sounded more like a pimp relationship than a legit working one.
I also heard that a taxi medallion in NYC was worth more than a million dollars.
I can see how the taxi companies would be fighting hard against anyone who can just come in and pick up folks and take them places, without paying the fees and dealing with all the red tape.
But as a customer, it doesn't make any sense to me that my tax dollars go to prop up such a seemingly corrupt and grasping business model. We don't subsidize buggy whip manufacturers...
