Ultragauge and ScanGauge Thread

If only there were some thread that discussed these two devices and their capabilities . . . .

Seriously, though, the Ultragauge is more popular on this forum. It does all of those things (well coolant temp, anyway) and is less expensive than the Scangauge.

So through all of my searching I have found nothing on here about it so I am going to ask. Has anyone had any issues with the ultragauge draining their battery? I have had my UG for almost 3 years now and love it (I had it in my old car with no problems) and I have been hounded by this weird issue with the sonic where when I leave it for any amount of time (say 18 or more hours) when I go to start it, completely dead. At first I thought it was a bad battery, turns out the battery was in fact bad (only putting out 106 CCA when it is -20F here) but after a new battery it did the same thing. So I unplugged the UG and haven't had any problems since. I'm stumped

TL;DR - Does anyone else have problems with their UG draining battery?

useful info: the UG did turn off when I turned the car on, it was on setting 3 I believe, it's a 2012 sonic lt 1.4T with a manual, and the average air temp lately has been about -8F. Also, as soon as I connect jumper cables to it it starts right up and the alternator works (according to my UG)

I miss all my gauges and want them back

Got it installed. Im extremely dissapointed in the mount. I have it maxed and its basically pointing to the floor. But oh well ill figure summin out

Yes its at bout -9.5 psi and when I hit the gas a lil and it said bout -10.5

Take it for a drive.


At idle/low rpm the turbo is not spooled/ spooling so it is creating a vacuum

See thats wat I was thinking but I pressed the gas a few times and it went from -9 to -10. Wuldnt it have done the opposite? Anyhow. I wont be able to drive it till tomarrow so ill see what happens

The ultragauge is nice.... but we'll be stocking something even better soon. They're called Aeroforce Interceptors. Great gauges, super accurate, have shift lights and warning lights, read and clear DTC's, etc.
