Wedding Band..........Help!!

My only issue with titanium is that it is scratched and dulled fairly easily. I had a watch with a titanium case and band. It looked great up till I started to wear it every day.

That being said I would go with 2 or 5.

This company will refinish the ring for free for life if the finish dulls or looses its coloring.

They do put an additive in Tungsten to make it brittle, so that instead of bending, it breaks. This is so that if there is an accident (your hand being crushed) the band breaks instead of bending. i.e. they don't have to use the jaws of life to get the ring off your hand.
Because of this brittleness most Tungsten rings come with a lifetime warranty. I know mine did.

That said I wear mine 24/7 and never had it chip or any damage. I had to start taking it off when mowing the lawn because mine has a bit of an edge to it and it cut through my glove when vibrating against the handle of the mower. again, no damage to the ring itself.

I like the unique ones. My hubby had a tungsten one that he busted clean in half somehow. Now he has a black titanium one with a fine shiny silver inlay running the center.

I like the turquoise one you picked and the first box elder.

Not to go cheap, but I have lost some weight any my titanium ring is way to big now. So I went and found a "hematite ring band" on ebay. I have to say, it's a solid stone ring that has been bashed and hit a work and it still has its finish. Also magnetic.

I've looked into the gear ring but have read many bad reviews about them not working properly or sloppily and getting caught in your pocket. They do look cool but not much like a wedding band to me.....or the other half lol.

I showed her this one too, which got a definitive NO!!!! Not that I'd want this one, was just being an ass.

Go cheap...

Buy yourself two rings. A cheap one for daily use and a nice one for special occasions, passing down the line, etc...

I have a nice Christian Bauer Moving Line band that was my actual wedding band but keep two or three beaters for daily use. I can't replace the CB ring.

When I was picking my ring I had never worn one before either. I wanted something that I didn't have to worry about getting damaged while doing work around the house and wanted something that looked decent. I ended up going with a tungsten ring. If it gets dirty just wipe it of. In five years its never scratched or dulled.

Personally I don't think I would ever find myself taking it off to admire the inside of the band, plus if that is actually wood then I can't think it would hold up as long as the marriage.

I attached a pic of what mine looks like. You can't really see the texture on the center of the band, but figured I'd throw it out there.

Nice Ring! It's funny I just bought mine and my fiances' just the other day and I am pretty sure I got the same ring you have. I like it a lot.

Well the search is over and I decided to order a custom ring from the company that I listed in the first post.

I went with an interior overlay of the Black Box Elder with heavy burl accents like this ring.

The exterior will be Sandblasted and have a double offset pinstripe similar to this ring but the offset stripes will be filled with the same Black Box Elder.

So basically the ring will be this but with all Black Box Elder for the wood and Sandblasted finish to the exterior. This ring is 8mm and the one I am ordering will be 11mm so it will be wider also giving it different proportions for the stripes and Sandblasted area.

Should be completed in 6 weeks so I will post up some finished item pics once it is in. Let me know what ya think.

I'm not a jewelry person, but I actually like the grey and green one.
Fact is, I don't wear my wedding ring because it drives me nuts. That, and I bent it once and don't want it to ever happen again. I'm lucky enough to have a wife that understands how much the ring bothers me so she doesn't make a deal out of it.

I like the green too but I didn't feel any attachment with the anodized interior but since I worked in the cabinet shop I have had a great appreciation for other wood work and it speaks to me with the Box Elder inserts.

Most carpenters and cabinet men I know will never wear jewelry of any kind at work. Growing up in a family of carpenters it's all I ever heard.

No but I wish I did because the work was much much more rewarding seeing a project from a pile of wood to a finished unit. I couldn't even wear a watch or a necklace when I worked there due to the risks of getting caught in something or it dragging against a finish and marring it. This is why I am having such a hard time deciding on a ring because I was always taught to not wear one lol.

I work at a computer all day doing Computer Drafting for a roofing firm now so it is a non issue with wearing for work and I am pretty active outside of work but with the ring being sandblasted it won't scuff so easily. They also impregnate the wood they use with some kind of resin to make it more durable and have said they have professional divers, welders, construction guys wear them without worry.

Isn't there some kind of issue where if your finger swells, or if somehow the ring manages to get bent they either can't, or have a lot of trouble trying to cut it off?

Wives tale but I have heard this from more people than anything so people do think it is true.

I would have made a suggestion earlier but I just saw this thread. If its not too late, make sure there are no squared off or sharp edges (mine has sharp squared edges). I found that out the hard way on our honeymoon. While swimming, I wiped the water off of my face and scratched the hell out of my nose. When I asked my wife if she minded if I took it off, her answer was "I'm surprised your still wearing it" Luckily her father was a mechanic and she heard all of the reasons why mechanics should never wear any Jewlery at work, so they tend not to wear it at all.
