what's the gearing ratios?

2012 6sp manual... what are the trans gear ratios?

When I dynoed my old car they put it in 3rd because that was the 1:1 gear..

Anyone know what they are on the 6 spd? And what's the difference between normal and RS gears?

I looked and couldn't find actual numbers

Ok, so 4th would be the closest to 1:1

If I ever need to change the trans, what would be the best for a mix of performance and economy? Looks like the 1.8 Cruze trans?

I swapped to the 1.8 Cruze trans. MPG took a big hit, but I love the added performance. It keeps the RPM in optimum boost range. I struggle to get over 30mpg on the freeway because in 6th at 70 mph I'm at about 3k rpm.

Really :/ that's a big mpg hit.

Is there one that has a better 5th 6th ratio for highway, But good performance in 1st-4th?

The Cruze Eco trans would be your best bet. 1st and 2nd will pull harder, and 3rd-6th will be the same as the stock Sonic 6-spd, but will be a little peppier with the slightly larger final drive.

IMO, the 1st is a lil short though. But it depends on what your goals are.

I'm looking to swap out my transmission in my sonic RS. I do a lot of highway driving, which would be best for 6th gear highway cruising?

I think I might have answered my own question. I'm going to want a trans from a standard sonic or cruze eco. What would be the trans model code, how would I know I'm look at the right transmission that I want?
I have a 2013 sonic rs with the m32 trans. So I would like to get one that is compatible and will swap right in.

if so can i just swap out the 6th gear in a 13rs for a 6th gear out of a sonic LS, cruze eco etc..

id really like to be able to get close to the 40mpg range. but i do love 2-5 RS gears.

as it is im getting about 30-33mpg. and i dont like it.

Yeah I'd like to know too, but I'm leaning toward just throwing the trans in trash and replacing it. First suck, 2 through 5th is good 6th is good for anything under 55mph. Any freeway driving your turning to many rpms. Although it is fun when you pull on cars, for the first .5 seconds. Haha
