Wheel and Lug Pattern Question

Hi all,

I have a set of 17" wheels from my WRX that I had and I'm wondering, with the proper lug adapter, will they fit?

The wheels are 17x7.5" I believe and the tires are 225/45/17.

The offset of the wheel is 48mm, and if I would buy a 19mm adapter it would shrink that to 29mm. Would that be ok? Would the tires rub?

Is the lug pattern 5x105? That's the pattern on the sonic

Shouldn't rub, still a pretty high offset.

Sooper: I have 225's on a 17.5 rim with a .40 offset and the tires come out to within a few mm of the fender lip. I suspect a .35 offset would be too much but it would be close, a single silly mm if my eye is true.

Sherbert: I am trying to imagine a 245 on a Sonic. 245/45 X 18s are the base tire for the Camaro LT, and many times I had my Cavalier with 225/45 X 17s parked next to the Camaro, and the tires on the Camaro made the tires on the Cavalier look tiny. It would be an awesome sight if it works.

Both of you: I say try. Neither you two nor the rest of us will know for sure until someone makes the attempt.

Sorting out a vibration issue (probably wheel balance) but otherwise no rub.

You got the thinnest adapter right? 19mm? That'll put my offset right around 29 which should look fine without any rubbing.

Also, the rolling diameter is still the same, so I don't think the size will be a problem.

Where did u get yours from? I can't seem to find them. Google search came up empty for 5x105 wheel adapters.

I used to own a '94 escort LX 2-door hatchback. I swapped the stock 14" wheels/tires for a set of 17x7 wheels with 245/45-17 tires. They worked perfectly with zero rub at full lock both ways. Why? To be different. It looked good and cornered MUCH better!!

5x105mm wheels

99-05 Alero's & Grand Am's used a 5x105mm bolt pattern. Alero's used 16x6.5 alloy wheels and 225/50-16 tires. I assume Grand Am's did also. In case you're interested.
