This is a great start! I know some folks in the xda forums are trying to hack the mylink as well.
Being MIPS makes it difficult to do much, although there is an android port. But at that point, you're better off replacing the headunit because I don't see the drivers for any of the mylink hardware working on android.
I just acquired a 2016 LTZ. I think its FW 23.. damn, or maybe 24. Are you just plugging this into the car and hoping for the best? I was thinking of maybe getting another head unit from ebay to test with...
It's a windows CE platform right? You could run a dual boot, install Android, that way all the apps you want are easy. XDA has a few threads on replacing Chinese gps units with Android. Might be a way to goI would be very cautious doing anything without a backup unit. Unfortunately this came at a time where I am back in school. Working and going to school, both full time, does not really allow me to do too much experimentation. I am considering abandoning the mylink all together but, I am not sure how to replace the DIC that is built in. I have been considering 2 builds, either a NUC carpc or possibly a nexus 9 build similar to the nexus 7 builds on the internet. I also need to figure out how to get satelite radio on either one of these, because I paid for it. I like O&J the Bonfire on Comedy Central Radio.
I honestly do not know what a mirror box is... I will remedy that. As far as I know you should be able to just use a phone with mirror link enabled. I have also heard that it is best over usb. The zip file I found is from the russian site. It was unpacked with the lgu2dir tool. I took a look at all of the files in the rom. I wish I had more time to look into it. I tried to decompile the files into c but as mentioned in the brazillian forums, it is like 3000 giant if statements with no implication of what the functions are.Great write up. All the information I could find about Mirrorlink and Mylink before this were in russian or spanish. With your method you still need to buy a MirrorBox and hard wire through the radio unit correct? Also where did you find the zip file you have posted. Is it the most current version? Again Awesome write up, I hope to attempt this soon with an android marshmallow phone.

Yeah, that could be promising... yes you would still need the box. It could also work with widi (shameless work plug. Yes I work for intel) you would need to grab an hdmi to rca converter though, and then the converter to fit the aux jack.My mistake your talking about MirrorLink and I was confusing it with Miracast, they are two entirely different things. Heres a YouTube video of Miracast.
I did the hack on my 2015 Sonic Sedan. The mirrorlink app is visible now, but will not connect with my Nexus 6, Galaxy Note Edge or Galaxy S6. I did not try Galaxy Tab A. :sadbanana: My software version is 20.00-95373687
could someone please bo so kind to re-upload: Mega File Upload - 24-5MGRMCM.zip
