Who's gonna keep OnStar and Sirius/XM?

Hmm I've seen a thread like this already but I use xm every day more than fm so I want to keep xm if it's a fair price. Even though I have used onstar for nav a few times, I feel like their prices are too high to justify so I probably won't renew come May.

I let XM my free trial expire and they kept sending me notices to sign up. They finally cut the price in half so I signed up. I hear the same works with cable company. If you tell them your gonna drop them for the competition they will give you the sweet introductory deal.

No plans to keep OnStar- used it twice just for the novelty of it. My phone works just fine for navigation. If I take a trip I can pay for a single month if I want the service - my aunt does that all the time when she travels.
Keeping SiriusXM - no issues with sound quality and I like the variety. Perhaps if I ever find more time I'll expand the USB selection, but it's low on the priority list right now.

Buy the lifetime, with taxes it was 500 dollars. Own the car seven years and be in it 1.5 hours a day 5 days a week and XM is a no brainer... I don't have time to play chizzler games ever 6 months.

I wish you could just pat for the OnStar app.

Oh and of note for anyone looking to get 1/2 off 6mo XM so far each time I've renewed its been super easy to get the deal (I'm not a haggler either). Once they called me the other I called them, both times I just told them I like the service but couldn't afford it at the current price. Both times they said "well we can do a 1/e price deal". They have it on their site, and it requires a CC. You might be able to call customer service and see if you can do it by check.

Simple to get a credit card these days, you just go to the local drug store and buy a prepaid one.

I got one a few years back for my daughter who was underage at the time but needed one in her name, that was a little trickier, but they have one for parents with students in college, you get two cards, one in your name one in your kids', that way you can deposit more money and they can spend it. Anyway, the point of that is that you only need ID for the parent, so the "kids'" can be in anyone's name.

These methods are annoying as they cost you five bucks to set up and then more money each time you refill the card, and maybe even some kind of monthly fee... but they allow people without the ability to get a real card for whatever reason to participate in the online world.

Not sure on either yet but we'll probably cancel both. If we can get the MyLink system working the way it should we'll probably use Pandora and cancel XM. OnStar is kind of hard to justify at $200 a year, especially if we start using BringGo for navigation. If BringGo is a bust we may consider keeping OnStar for navigation, but the lack of a visible map is a little hard to swallow. Google Maps over bluetooth with a dash mount is more likely at this point. I do like being able to pull up the vehicle data and remote start from my phone, though. LOS only remote start is kinda lame by comparison.

Im keeping onstar it keeps me from getting lost, and im sure it will save my life one day or at least notify someone im dead lol onstar is a good deal lol

I use my phone for GPS. OnStar for me is only good as a monitor for the car's health. For 200 bucks that is steep. XM is a must, as I have been a subscriber since 2005. Just minutes of FM or AM drives me nuts.

I get that offer all the time from them. I would just call them and ask, I'd be surprised if they turned you down.

I let mine XM radio expire. They sent all kinds of mail and deals my way. I signed back up for $25 for 6 months. Then when that was close to expiring I called to cancel unless they would continue the current deal. They gave me the same deal again, but I would not pay any more than $25 for 6 months.

If they gave me an offer for $25/6 months I'd consider it. I don't remember their last offer but it wasn't that low.
