Windshield wiper linkage question

Hello,

So my windshield wiper linkage snapped at the alluminum side. I had to rig this to get it to hold just in case it rained. But afraid to turn them on any faster than the lowest setting. How hard is it to remove the whole unit?

Would it be easier to buy the whole unit or just the linkage and transfer the motor to the linkage? Trying to save money and not have anything to hard to do. Afraid of what the dealership may charge. Thanks for the help.

This type of failure is a potential safety issue that could end up being a recall of enough people complain. The Cruze also suffers from this issue since GM uses cheap plastic parts.

The transmission #5. Dealer wanted $116 just for that part...through GMdirect it was like $44. Ridiculous markup! Then altogether for the install around $200.

Anyway I just bought a used one off a 30k Sonic on Ebay with motor for $35 shipped.

easy fix. remove wipers (unbolt them, then WIGGLE THE WIPER ARM in a rocking motion while pulling up, they'll pop off)
Remove the plastic cowl cover (you'll need something like this I think)

Then you should have total access...Not sure if hood will be in the way... but it's doable.
