It's a noise maker. If you like the sound, it's worth it. Strictly personal preference unless the one you have isn't working.

Basically what he said, no performance increase and usually requires tune or you'll be running a bit rich since it's not recirculating the air back into the intake unless you get a recirculating valve. I just miss tapping the gas just to hear the turbo spool up and let out the pshhhhh
