Your Nav Choice - OnStar vs Bringo vs NAv System Vs Google Maps???

I have a 6" TomTom. Works ok on all my cars/camper. My only problem is their updates suck (takes lots of tries to get thru). I use the USB port to power it.

I use Google Maps built-in on my Galaxy S3.

Fun fact: if you're off of your usual data signal area, just turn on airplane mode and your GPS function and it'll work just fine without sucking up the battery, even on fire roads and farm roads.
My husband and I took a backroads trip through northern Arkansas on the dual sport motorcycles back in early June, and Google Maps worked just as well, if not better, than the Garmin eTrex20 we packed along with us. I just stuck it in little phone drybag, and it worked beautifully!

I'm using Waze since it routes faster than the BringGo does in the city (Wash DC) and provides me a lot more information. I just use my Nexus 7 for Waze so that I can still use MyLink for audio. Working well for me so far.

I had BringGo for a year, and just mentioned in the BringGo thread I had it for a year free, and it was barely "OK". But was first I ever used really besides printing out Google maps (I don't travel much).

I tried Google Maps on my phone and it got me lost, on a similar named road so I am wicked ticked off at that. So, after hearing about Waze in this thread I downloaded it to try it out. Not much use yet but it seems so wicked easy to use and REALLY well designed. Much more user friendly than the others I checked out.

I wish the app to put our phones on the MyLink Screen was available

Now I think I will look for a good mount for my phone and do what you did. I think I want mine just to the left of Center. I had planned to put an UltraGauge there, but I think the phone is a higher priority. Mounted there, the screen size is practically the same size as the MyLink Screen any way.

BringGo/Mylink was a nice concept, but real world use leaves a lot to be desired. It's NOT user-friendly. Waze seems like the way to go, for now.

Wish I could change my Poll answer, and add Waze to the selections.

Having a Samsung S5 I find the driving mode integrates nicely. No on screen function but the voice activation works great.

I usually use WAZE or Apple maps. WAZE is nice because of the live--other user--updates and the traffic is pretty accurate IMO. I'd use Onstar but you can't save routes and its a hassle having to call or use the virtual advisor. Although, maybe it is easy to use and I'm just to lazy to find out its true potential. Plus, I prefer an actual map (on a screen) versus just the voice telling you where to go. The actual map helps to see actual landmarks on the route. I have the Mylink stereo, does it show a map on its screen when using Onstar?? And oh yeah, BringGo SUCKS!! It's just terrible compared to other map apps!!

OnStar was a nice, free gimmick to me, while I had it free for 6 months. I don't remember seeing any maps. I don't think it's tied in any way to the MyLinK, though it should be. But one time I asked for directions and they found a similar named road in an adjacent state and sent me there. I figured something was up after about going 10 miles out of the way, so a 30 mile detour altogether.

And YAH THAT's the one..... Apple Maps is what my Grand Daughter used to save my BUTT when Google maps had me lost for almost an hour trying to find a house on a back road when I had poor reception. I know how to save a Google Map for off-line use, I just didn't do it. Her iphone saved us.

But, I have an Android, so Waze has moved to the front of the line IMO.

I use Here maps on my phone. The directions are as good or better than google maps in my experience plus you can download maps for offline use.

Google maps... have yet to be lead astray... I use G maps on my Galaxy5 and its really good when my wife and I go out looking at houses or for that restaurant that has a funky address, and now its really nice that it has road conditions and lets me know that I 405 is screwed up with a major backup and tells me to take a different route.. so Google so far is the best I have tried.. and have yet to be disappointed
