ZZP turbo back install difficulty.

Taxes came back and i want to blow the whole thing on M'sonic! Soo.. How hard is it to install the turbo back exhaust? Is there any cutting or welding involved?

If i can do it myself i should be able to get the MPFab intake with the extra money i save from doing it myself.

It's actually very easy, the downpipe has a hidden bolt that's weird to get to, but other than that it's all straight forward, a total of like.... 8 bolts that are all but 1 easy to access.

Only thing is that the catback is one piece, and either requires you to cut it at the rear axle, or take off the driver's side spring and shock and slide it out through the extra space that gives you to get it out.

Installing is VERY easy, it slips together perfectly and lines up like it should.

I just put the ZZP cat back in my RS and installation was super easy, but you do have to cut the stock exhaust off

I installed mine yesterday and as these guys are saying, very straight forward. Granted I work at a Chevy dealer as a salesman and all I had to do is ask to use a lift, so I had everything at my disposal. Unfortunately you do have to cut the OEM to get out. But after that it should take you like 10 minutes. Good luck!!

So just the turbo back gives a little gain (with a tune would be better)but mostly sound? I'd like a little more sound out of mine but cutting the pipe scares me. It doesn't void warranty either?

Start with cutting off the muffler. Seems scary but sounds good.

I too am curious with how difficult installing this Turbo-back exhaust is. Can someone describe how they removed that one difficult bolt that is on the stock downpipe? Such as what tools were used, etc.

For those that have installed the turbo-back variety successfully, was anyone able to do this in their driveway? Mightycarmods style?

Still on the fence about an exhaust, I commute 80 miles round-trip daily and I do enjoy that the car is calm and quiet on the highway. However, I do realize that a turbo-back exhaust really helps deliver the power through the band especially with a tune, which is on my short list.

Last question, does the ZZP Turbo-back come with all the necessary gaskets also? On my last exhaust install, I had to get new gaskets from my local dealer.

Did mine in the garage in the middle of January (it was cold...). Jacked up the driver's side (front and back) and put some jack stands under it and I had all the access I needed. Used a hack saw to cut the muffler, but I highly recommend a sawzall if you have it.

As far as removing the nut, just used a 1/4" socket wrench with a 10 mm (I think) socket and was able to manipulate my hand from the bottom to get it. Overall not that bad to get to it.

Mine didn't come with the gasket, but I bought mine used. Not sure about new. Everything is slip fit with clamps except the downpipe to the midpipe, so you only really need 1 gasket.

The trick to removing that hidden bolt is using a 1/4 drive universal adapter.

I think i reused the stock gasket, I know I needed nothing extra than what came from zzp.
