DDM Works Big Brake Kit in works

It was recommended that we start a DDM specific Big Brake Kit thread so here it is.

Dave posted this previously.

That is pretty interesting, not sure why it would be that much for a 2 piston floating caliper setup. This is what we offered for the Solstice/Sky:

It is a 4 piston setup, that is a fixed caliper, which offers much better pedal modulation. Also since it was billet we dropped 8 pounds of unsprung weight a corner, and we sold the front setup for $550.

If there is interest in something like that we can easily make the brackets for the Sonic.

I think Eric must just be wired directly to the forum, that is the only way he can see posts and respond as quick as he does

That 8 pounds of weight savings per wheel is making me itch!

I need clarity from Dave. Is it 8 lbs lighter total? Or per wheel?

I have a hard time imagining that one of the tiny stock calipers even weighs 8 lbs.

So I'm guessing its lighter by 8 lbs total for the pair. Which is still a HUGE difference!!!

well zzp is suposed to be 8 lbs total, so being a fixed cailiber set up isntead of zzp's floating i can see it being 8 lbs per wheel

On the Solstice/Sky setup it was 8 pounds a corner, so 16 pounds total when you did the front. The stock calipers are usually pretty hefty and also the mounts are pretty hefty also. Once we get the prototype brackets back, I will get some weights for everyone.

Dropping all the unsprung weight will be a huge benefit! Will they still be a forward mounted caliper? believe it or not you can get better results if the calipers are mounted in the "9 o'clock" position as opposed to the "3 o'clock" spot like the oem setup.
