And that was for a 1.8 too right? (sorry, can't recall what you had before...was one with wiper issues, or maybe that was someone else) Hmmmm...I should chek with my dealer, see if they KNOW anything about this...and maybe make you an offer...or go with the ugly stick. I'm in no real rush, but kid is going to uni this fall, and I think, if I was him, I'd like cc for the long drive to and from every weekend. Hell I'd like it just for normal local driving.

I've been debating getting the Rostra Kit and either trying to wire up a stock steering wheel controls or even make a switch plate that is not noticeable so the stock isn't added to the column. Just need to come up with the funds to try, I loathe taking my car to the dealer.
Checked with my local dealer, and he (parts guy) input my S/N and then also ran a check without it and he says it seems that all I need is the steering wheel and switch/bezel. $150 plus install. He's double checking because I told him that shouldn't be on a 2012. Guess we'll see what they come up with. I know the service mgr told me it was impossible, or near useless, to swap a new wheel on, they'd tried on other cars and it just didn't work (gotta wonder how many other cars they actually sold without cruise, other than mine...it's the reason it was so cheap to buy to begin with; it's option-less!) - he said I need to go the stick route. Time will tell...

They lie.. Because our cars don't even come with blind spot detection but they re flash my computer to get it on my car. And installed new mirrors and the sensors. It's just something they don't want to do

The only reason why GM didint release a cruise control kit for the 2012 sonics is because some sonics don't have the radio controls.. Meaning it would need a new wire harness and a new clock spring.. The 2013 sonics have radio controls standard in all 2013 and 14 sonics so it has the right harness and clock spring. If the 2012 sonics have cruise control on sonics then your computer can also be flashed as well they just want to be lazy and not do it.

I'd just call other dealers. Because my dealership Campbell Chevrolet told me it can't be done even tho I had a written forum and parts from GM to add it.. But I drove an hour away to Nashville to Tom Bannen (now called Serra Chevrolet) a huge dealership and they said they add cruse control to cars all the time and can be done. But I got talked into a good deal and my RS came with everything I wanted so I got the RS and never installed the wheel
Dealer still telling me they can't do it. Me telling them "yes, you can!" (seems their installer, not one of their employees, but an electronics guy who does all their installs, says it can't be done! Roll. Eyes.!!) Time to call the big city dealers. Or maybe find one on the US side of the border who knows. Probably be cheaper too. Grrrr...
Just curious. I was told by a respected car audio shop that they could install the Rostra cruise for $438. Is there a reason why people don't use that aftermarket cruise?
I don't understand why cruise isn't available as a stand alone option, or just made standard. I didn't get it because I don't want all the other LT upgrades.

I bought a 2015 Sonic LS with the 5 speed. I didn't realize it didn't have cruise. My salesman arranged for me to have the stock Steering Wheel mounted cruise added and it works great. I paid list price, which is $340, and $75 labor.

The base 4/ 5 speed manual drives great. I detest 6 speeds. I don't understand the appeal of them on a car that is in the top gear by 50mph. Who wants to shift 6 times by then?

I would prefer a 7MT to the 6MT we currently enjoy. Does that mean more shifts to get to the top gear? Hope so.

Several of us don't shift through each and every gear every time either. There's a lot of times I shift 1-2-3-6, I love the 6 speed's tall 6th gear since I do a lot of freeway driving. Moreover, you could just ignore 6th and never shift up from 5th if you desire, but I don't understand why you would want fewer choices.

The dash indicator works perfectly too. And it is green when the Cruise is engaged, and white when disengaged, which is a really nice feature. Very happy with the features of my base model, now that I have cruise added.
