High-flow primary catted down pipe

I would love to see a high flow primary cat. I know there are plenty of catless down pipe options but I'm moving to MA soon and I don't want to change out my down pipe every year for inspection. Also, I respect my earth mother or some sh*t.
Would anyone else be interested in a high flow primary cat if one were made?

Looking at the aftermarket for other turbo cars, I do see CARB certified high-flow cats. They're not cheap, but they are out there...

Universal high flow cats are abundant and acceptable for smog, but finding a company to build one into a very specific application like the downpipe for an economy box Sonic/Cruze might be quite a battle.

Having a shop weld a high-flow into an aftermarket DP would be more practical.

At the cost of purchasing a cat less DP and a high flow cat, having it cut up, then paying someone to weld it all together. I'd rather swap out the catless piece for inspections as needed.

Hmmm, that's a good point. I'll see if I can get a quote on that. I'm thinking by the time I buy the catless pipe, buy a high flow cat, and have it cut up and welded, it may get quite expensive.
If one were to gut the stock primary cat, would that set off any CELs? I'm not going that route because I do care about clean emissions, but I'm curious to know.

But some people want the environmental aspect of a high-performing cat/dp combo. And if that's the case, you have to pay the cost to be the hippy boss.

True, but the 1st cat's effectiveness was probably designed to operate with the immediate heat from the turbo discharge. Also relocation might be considered as altering emissions equipment.

I suppose I'll do the ZZP mid pipe, then the ZZP high-flow secondary and cat-back, then someday I'll return to the primary cat and see what the options are at that point. Thank you guys, as always, for the useful info.

I thought all OEM honey-comb style cats for the past 10+ years basically were "high flow"
I mean, they are not like the 1970s-80s pellet style cats at all.

I've read that modern cats are leaps and bounds better than older cats but, I also see some good aftermarket companies posting nice dyno gains with their high flow cats on modern turbo vehicles.
I believe ZZP rates their down pipe at an 8-9 horsepower gain, so clearly our stock cat could be improved upon.

Remove pipe, knock out cat material. Weld it back clean. #likeaboss then weld high flow in mid pipe... Maybe by gods creation itd pass.

I don't think the flow is horrible on the stock cats, but the diameter is usually the restrictive part.

Does MA have a sniffer test for inspection? NY just does an OBDII test for codes and monitor readiness. I have the catless downpipe with no CEL and nothing disabled in the ECU. I'm running an angled spacer on the 2nd O2 sensor. Also, no need to weld a cat into the midpipe. Just get a ZZP high-flo secondary cat.

Just think of all the emissions that will be released during the process of mining, refining, and fabricating that high flow cat, then make the environmentally conscious decision to just go without one knowing that in the end you will produce less pollution.

This reminds me of the way a Prius is more harmful than a Tahoe, It takes allot to produce those motors and batteries plus they don't decompose.

Guess the only real way is to drive a steam car burning wood. Wood = zero carbon foot print and the rest is made from cast iron and steel.

Any copper or brass fittings will just be stolen and recycled at one point, so those don't count either.
