I can't wait for spring. My '83 Yamaha 650 looks sad sitting under a sheet in the garage corner.
You put it in timeout?
**** you auto correct!

I rode 75 miles today at 50f with no gloves on. My hands were so swollen it's not funny. As I pulled into a restaurant to have dinner with my wife the trottle cable broke  I got it home by driving with the idle adjustment got up to 45 on a long stretch lol but had to hit the kill switch at lights.

Yeah, when it's 50* or so I bust out my winter motorcycle gloves. Them things are beastly and keep my hands nice and warm down to about 40. Below that gets rough, even with my bark busters.
Edit. I realized the other day that my bike has two throttle cables - one for opening the throttle and one to return the throttle closed. I guess Kawasaki didn't want to trust a spring to close the throttle.
Is that common on bikes to have two throttle cables?

I also have a KLR, time for a Sonic KLR club? Haha. I'm actually off work today and I'm planning on tearing it down to check the valve clearence. Also have some overnight parts from Japan so I can make a feeble attempt at converting my wheels to tubeless.
Funny, because I've been planning on getting my valve clearance checked as well. I've 8400 miles on mine.
That said, fist I have to deal with my oil consumption issues. Last weekend the bike drank half a quart in 130 miles of 70% highway riding.
The bike's going back to the dealer this Friday to have this addressed under warranty.
Yeah, will do. You don't have to replace them. You just need to re-shim them.Ouch, that's extreme. Could you update this thread once it's fixed? I'd be curious to know what would cause that....
I'm the third owner of mine and I doubt the previous owners bothered checking the valves. At ~10k miles I was surprised that only one was out of spec. I'm going to replace them all anyway so that all match up.
For trade?

Hm youve got one of those. Some of em are notorious for leaking oil. A new bike, carry extra oil, or big bore kit seems to be the only real solutions. Schnitz racing makes two kits, the 685 is the one you want. Dealers not guna fix it from drinking oil that's for sure. Check the klr forums.
