I have a 93 Yamaha seca 600 that was not well cared for by the previous owner/s. I had to go through the carbs and replace all the intake boots. the last owner actually ran it with 4 torn carb boots and wondered why it wasn't running good!
I got sick of the rattling front fairing so I made a sheetmetal mount for the stock gauges to attach to the 7" round Honda headlight that I found in a junkyard. it was my first road bike, but under powered.
I went to americade last year to try out some different bikes. the one I REALLY liked was the versys. nice riding position, plenty of power while being smooth, no handlebar buzz like my 4 cylinder. the ninja 1000 had a little bit of buzz in the bars, but had TONS of power. but I cant afford the insurance for it anyways, it would be more than the payment for the bike!
I did try a new KLR there too. now I know a lot of you here have this bike, but doesn't the engine feel rough, like there's marbles inside of it? maybe it was just the demo unit, but it was not smooth in the least.
the versys is what I will be buying this summer.
