I just ordered the GM performance air intake for my 2016 RS. Next month I will be adding the exhaust system from GM. They come with a small tune to hold me over until I get a BNR tune, maybe next year. Can't wait for the slight increase in power.
It is not cheap. It is one of the most expensive air intakes. I like the look of it being completely contained. The dealer is working with a body shop to see if I can have it painted red to match the rings on my lights. They also provide the tune that would not void the warranty. This intake is also on the chopping block of being discontinued. It does not technically show up as a part for the 2016 sonic but said they could install it anyways.
let me know how it works out for you. when i was looking into the gm intake for my 2016 rs it wasnt available for the 2016 model. something to do with the ecu recalibration
I will post back when I get it installed. The Dealer ordered it for me. The main reason I heard that it would not be listed for 2016+ is due to the part no longer complying to the California clean air thing in the future.
I just ordered the GM exhaust also. Might take a little longer until I have an update because I am going to wait and have them both installed at the same time. Then it is off to the paint shop.
The GM box is expensive but it's the best looking box out there IMO. The GM exhaust is nice too, Borla gives a good sound, you'll be happy with those opcorn:
Thanks mja, it was hard to find an exhaust that was not too loud. My wife said she would not ride in a car if it was "obnoxious", but the sonic needs a little growl to it.
Am I correct in assuming that all the intakes for the previous years 1.4T Sonic will also fit the 2017 1.4T Sonic? That deal on ebay is not bad and might pick it up if it fits.
