Sparco pedal install

I tried installing my Sparco Reflex pedals today, and there is no way these are going on this car. The only way to do it would be to build custom arms for all three pedals that would allow you to attach the Sparco pedals. I'm super dissappointed about it. There are a variety of issues...our pedals are thick structural honeycomb plastic, there is almost no clearance behind our pedals so you can't use nuts on the back (that's how the Sparcos attach), our pedals curve more than the Sparcos so only one half of the aftermarket pedal would be touching the stock arm, then the pedal would act as a lever and you would eventually snap the bottom of your stock pedals right off...
It's too bad, these things are sooo nice, and the spacing of them is so much better than our stock pedals. Heel-toe would be a breeze with these and they would just feel better all-around. I know GM has the aluminum pedals but those are nowhere near the Sparcos in quality or design.
Maybe TurboTech or DDM could work on something better than what GM gave us.

I just emailed DDM about the possibility of making a quality set of racing-style pedals specifically for our cars. I would pay really good money for a set. Every time you drive, those pedals have a huge effect on the feel of the car and the joy of driving, and if you're having fun on a twisty road, our ****ty pedals really shine through and make themselves known, thereby taking away from the joy of driving our awesome small cars. If other people would put money down for this kind of part, say so. Pedals are important.

Also, Tmo, even if I wanted to clamp or strap them down I couldn't, they really just don't mate well with the surface of our stock pedals.

I agree the stock pedals suck, I put on a set of after market pedals within the 1st few days of ownership I don't really even remember what the OEM setup felt like. I couldn't drill through so I used a clamp setup and I have had no problems since.

I'm fine with my GM aluminum pedals...they work.

some people like pedal that are just a bit closer together, it makes it easier to heel toe. With my setup I can blip the throttle with my pinky toe with this setup.

Hmm Im pretty happy with my gm aluminum pedals too... good fit and good quality.. Ive also drag raced and been to several road course days without any issues.. Not doubting that it would be easier to heel toe downshift with a bit wider pedal but its not really a big deal to me.. it wasnt like holding me back..

Yea I don't mean to trash the GM aluminum ones, I'm just looking for something spaced more like race pedals. The GM ones are still really far apart, like the stock ones, they're just aluminum instead.
Tmo, have you had any clearance issues with those? When I was manipulating the pedals and trying to make this work, I noticed that all the pedals bottom out with the bottom and rear of the pedals basically hugging the floor.

No clearance issue's, The only small issue I had was when I first put them on one of the Clips on the clutch came loose and clicked. I adjusted it and tightened it down as much as I could and have had no issues since.

I've now been thinking about getting some pedal covers. I think I like the ractive ones like these:

i have big feet so with the gm aluminum ones i can heel/toe barefooted just fine. With shoes on...its a different story

in my normal sneakers or my work shoes i can actually heel-toe better than in my "driving shoes" (puma future cat), which are a bit thinner and want to slip off more
