Subwoofer help!

I have a 10" sub and an amp to power it, and I am looking for the best way to wire it up. I also have a line out converter that I'll run to existing speaker wires.

Should I splice into the Front channel or Rear channel? I read that the Sonic has lower quality (or limited) rear signals, so is it better to splice into the Front ones? Is there any disadvantage to doing this? Will it reduce the volume or quality of the front speakers?

the rear is limited to lower sounds so the rears act kinda like a bass, i spliced my sub into the back and it didnt sound bad, tho now im running all speakers on the front and the sub on the back.

If you connect the rear speakers to the front channel, does it reduce the volume to all 4 speakers? I don't care about being able to fade between front/rear. I really just want more volume and am not sure how connecting rear speaker to the front channel will affect them.

my plan that is a new head unit and an and additional amp to power the speakers, unless new speakers/head unit solve the problem first. I hit 45 on that dial every day. :'( Bluetooth input seems louder than from Ipod (thru usb) or cd or radio so I usually play from that.

I went into the pillars on either side and spliced into the speaker wires there for my converter. I ran my remote off the front power window fuse and have no issues. I usually run off a flashdrive in the usb port with all music ripped at 320kbps and mine sounds great. I have 1 12" on a pretty big amp turned way down and it's enought to shake the awning at the gas station at about half volume.

It actually made it louder by reducing resistance the rear are the same add the front minus mounting holes

keep in mind it may get louder, but others have advised me this can be bad if you keep it loud constantly something to do with ohms and stuff but im sure by the time i blow my radio/speakers it will be well into upgrade time anyways.

Yea pretty much what you did is reduced the ohm load from 4ohms to 2ohms. That means theres more current being drawn from your factory radio, in turn going to make it work alot harder and get alott more hot. If you crank it alot you have a veryyy high chance of frying that radio. Tread softly...lol

Maybe take it to a mobile audio dealer to have it all installed? I myself know how to do it as I am sure you do as well. But with the cars being so new, if something goes wrong, then they have the insurance to back up what they do. Where as if we screw it up then its on us. Just my opinion. I had my equipment installed just yesterday and its well worth the money to avoid the time and aggravation and worry.

I agree. Im an installer for Best Buy and ive already done a radio, speakers and subs for a few sonics. Its all warrentied and insured. Came out really nice.

Ive broke some things already, my dealer fixed it all, but I didn't splice I just added the write to the harness so I cab simply pulp it to make stock, I don't crank it and it don't get hot so I think I'm fine but I do plan on getting a amp sometime when I got money just gotta get my intake and sway bar installed first

How would you recommend adding an amp + subs? The place I took mine spliced into the front speaker channels to the line out converter, to the amp, to the subs.

It sounds good, but I was wondering if I could get more mid-high volume without buying new speakers and another amp.

This is what I did, although I am not an audiophile and my interest was in getting more bass: I went to Best Buy and had them install a Kicker 10" BassStation. I was told I would not need a line converter because the Kicker had its own self contained amp. I get excellent bass and as I play with the treble and the midrange I am getting better overall sound. That to me was the easiest solution and so far seems to be working. I did know I had no interest in spending one or two thousand on a sound system unless the system would increase my engine power while lowering my coefficient of drag and center of gravity.

Mine was hooked into the rears with a Line Out Converter that has a remote turn-on lead. The perfect amount of bass rolls out because I have the hatchback. The rest of my stereo is all stock and everything sounds incredible. Love It !!!!
