Ok that's how I have mine. I had issues with my MAF touching my hood support at first, then the very top of the curve was rubbing the hood insulation, and now with some finessing, I've got it settled in.

Thanks, Dave. That's exactly how I had mine installed the first time around; it must be out of spec. The lower bend in the bracket is located too far from the mounting hole. As a result, there was only about 1mm clearance between the bracket and the motor mount.

I was getting contact between the corner of the bracket and the motor mount, as shown by these arrows:

The result was a jack-hammer like effect whenever the engine would move around, especially when turning, light engine braking, and using reverse.

I had that same noise initially but my bracket was turned some. Now that it sits square I don't get it anymore.

Thanks for the input. Mine was on there pretty square. It was just too close. I could barely squeeze a strip of heavy paper in the gap. I had to rotate the bracket pretty far off to the side to get it to clear. It's only a temporary fix. I don't like how tight the MAF harness is. I may go back and redrill the mounting hole.

Edit: it looks like there are about 5-6 mm of clearance in Dave's pic. Mine was way closer.

Mine definitely has more clearance than what you're describing. Must have gotten a wonky one.

Couldn't you just elongate the hole a little to get the clearance you need?

Does anyone know if installing this Cold Air Intake is legal in New York State? Sorry to have to ask but I am new to car modifications and am interested in the DDMWorks Intake and a tune.

Installed

Just installed my DDMW intake and coil cover. Holy Crap! I love it. I can hear all the turbo noises and the BOV hiss sound. Couldn't hear it before. Everything went smooth. Install was a piece of cake with DDM instructions. Customer Service with DDM was Amazing as usual. Great product from a great company made me a happy customer. I will definitely be looking into buying the exhaust from DDM at some point. Oh I really screwed up the DDM decal though. Oh well, glad that was screwed up and not something more important. All that red looks sexy under the hood :banana:

Just realized that the hood prop rod hits the MAF connector on the DDM Intake. Anyone else notice this. I just bent the hood prop up a little around the connector. But the rod was pushing down against the MAF sensor with quite a bit of force. Also with the MAF connected on the front side of the intake pipe it really stretches the wiring to the MAF which concerns me a little. Is there any reason the MAF connector couldn't have been on the back side of the intake pipe? Just curious. I'm sure there is a good reason. The picture shows the rod after I bent it up to clear the sensor.

you probably need to push the tube down father into the rubber more.

Finally ordered mine last night. I've held off modding my car (other than muffler removal) for a year and a half of ownership. Time to change that.

You need too adjust the mounting bracket so it doesn't hit the maf, the same thing happened to me. Just move it around until the intake has proper clearance.

Same thing happened to me. It took a long time for me to figure out how to keep it away. I finally got the bracket finagled just right to hold it away.

Does the heat shield version HAVE that bracket?

Nope. With the heat shield it just rests in a cutout with some weatherstrip around it. Kind of made me nervous about it not having an actual mount, but it hasn't gone anywhere yet.
