About a month ago I started hearing allot of hate towards injen intakes and I'm just wondering wtf? Why all the hate? Am I missing something?

It's been more than just the last few weeks, it's essentially been since it was released. It's touted as the "hot air intake" due to the fact that in Injen's ulitmate wisdom they decided to run a aluminum pipe direction over the hot engine for what seems to be for looks vs performance. DDM did a direct dyno comparison of the stock intake, Injen and the DDM intake with astonishing results. Due to his server/site swap it (the image of the dyno chart) has been lost in his DDM intake thread, but the Injen made a solid 2 hp more than the SAB at peak power for a whooping 200 rpm (around 3,200 rpm IIRC...) and then graciously bowed back down under the SAB during every other rpm before and after it's simple 2 hp peak gain. Simple answer, it's not worth the aluminum they built it with unless all you're looking for is stock power with a "cool" looking intake that gives you the turbo/BPV sounds everyone loves which can be achieved for much less with the RNI (Red Neck Intake).
Also, it looks like your tube needs some aluminum polish!
The dyno charts DDM posted were pretty clear but my attitude was formed long before that post when I examined the chart posted on the Injen web page. I speculate that the Injen could improve mpg. The results from the budget tune have nothing whatsoever to do with the Injen intake other than there could be better performance absent that intake.
My complaint: the Injen intake was originally marketed as a performance product. I did not then nor do now hate the product, just the marketing back then.

Why didn't you just post in here about your "home grown intake" or start a new thread by itself? What's the point of asking the same thought/question in two different places?!

What i would like to see is a dynojet test with a DDM and ZZP on a tuned 1.4.Vers the stock intake with a K&N panel filter
