It only stops when you use the Auto up on the drivers window.
If you keep hold of the button, it will keep going regardless.

Even with auto-up it won't stop sometimes. If I put my hand on it and put a little pressure, like a little kids hand would, it won't stop. If I tap it, it picks up that force and will stop it.
I didn't dare keep my finger there, so I used a somewhat stale hotdog roll still in a bag and it only stopped 1/2 the time when it went to the end.
I don't think it's all that safe myself. I wish there was a way to disable it. Maybe there is?
Time to PM the Chevy Rep and ask.

That is a setting through mylink (on cars with mylink idk about non mylink). It can be disabled.

MyLink Clock Auto-Sync solved!!
The service department called me yesterday (04/07/14) after the guy spent several hours on the phone with GM Engineers. What he discovered is that the clock synchronizes with FM Radio stations!!! Not cellular, not GPS, not OnStar. FM RADIO.
HOWEVER - in order for this to work properly, when you turn on the clock's Auto-Sync feature in the Time-Date settings, you must be tuned to an FM radio station that's actively broadcasting the song/artist information, otherwise the time setting will (most likely) be incorrect.
To test this, I found an FM radio station that was NOT broadcasting the currently-playing song and artist, turned on the Auto-Sync and my clock was set to 1-hour behind the actual time.
Then I found an FM radio station that WAS broadcasting the currently-playing song and artist, turned on the Auto-Sync and my clock (magically
) changed to the correct time!!! :banana:
So here's the thing, though. There's no way of knowing (at this point) how frequently this sync occurs so if I'm listening to the wrong station, my clock could reset itself to an incorrect time. If you occasionally listen to the FM radio, My suggestion is to:
1.) Find a station and tune to it.
2.) Turn on Auto-sync and wait until the time corrects itself.
3.) Turn Auto-Sync off.
OR:
Manually set the time and leave auto-sync off.
Hope this is of some help to some!
Had my '13 in for its 3 month service today_ the auto-sync clock was one issue that I had asked them about. I've done research and found no solution so thought they might, but they had no clue either. They re going to call GM on Monday and let me know what they find. It's a small thing, really, but it should work. Could it be that GM's software Engineers simply overlooked a time-zone setting?
At any rate, if the dealer calls me, I'll be sure to come back and let everybody know what I learn.

That doesn't sound like a great way to update the time. What if you listen to multiple stations on a regular basis, and they are all off of each other by a few minutes? You will never know what time it really is unless you turn it off like you said. Syncing to the cell phone would be better IMO. Most people use their cell phones for time these days.

Radio stations should be syncing their time by an atomic clock, just like computers are set up to do.

I think "most people" is the key phrase. I suppose Chevy figured FM covers everybody? More so than (they think) cell might. though only they know what they were thinking

It's a bit of a non issue really. We've had to set our own clocks for years and this is just a feature of convenience.
If you really have problem with it, turn it off and set it yourself.

Really interesting to hear about the radio clock auto-sync, this has bugged me since Day 1. I finally turned it off and manually programmed it, has kept perfect time since. Frustrating because I'd be willing to bet my TBSS that does auto-clock does it via GPS or cell as it's always dead on.

Later I noticed the 4th pin on what I thought was just an audio input. Some early video cameras used a 4pin 3.5mm plug to connect the cameras to a TV via composite video, but the pinouts were not always the same. Not knowing the pinout I assumed that since it was designed to work with iPods that they may have implemented it in the same pinout as the early iPods.
I went online and found an iPod video out cable meant for for the early generations, before the 4th pin was repurposed as the microphone input. I attached it to a Raspberry Pi computer and I got video! In fact the MyLink automatically switched to the video input rather than the AUX audio you get when you plug a regular audio source into the plug.
This is the cable I bought if anybody else wants one. You could watch TV in your Sonic with a DTV decoder box!

That is if you are using the cable for the intended purpose, as a video out cable for an iPod, since there is no iPod involved it does not matter. I'm just using the cable because the Sonic's AUX input uses the same pinout as the older iPods.
The device that I have connected to the cable is a Raspberry Pi. I connected the 3.5mm plug end of the cable into the AUX input in the second glove box and the composite end of the cable into the Raspberry Pi. You can use the cable to connect any device that has a composite video output (red + white + yellow plugs) to the Sonic's AUX input.
The MyLink will not let you select the AUX video input unless you actually have an active video source connected.
If it hurts, DON'T DO THAT!
Yes, there are setups in the radio for streaming via Bluetooth, and a separate setup for connecting for phone calls. It works fine but you will probably need to read the manual to find the secrets...:banana:
