Full replacement mustacheless grill

if you look at the almost obsolete market for aftermarket grills for the sonic, you'd end up paying anywhere from $150-$600 for an overlay.

read carefully, every lower is an overlay to the stock grill.
I have 100+ hrs and numerous machined "test sets" which all came out of pocket to get this design right. Nobody is paying for that but me. I prototype for a living and my boss charges $95 per hour for my services. Lets just leave it as each one of these custom built grills will need more than a couple hours of time to construct.
Main reason for these is to give back to the SOF community. I already have a great looking stachless grill, but others kept asking me to make something available, so I listened and here is the result.
I will be doing the final test fit for Scot's grill #001 tonight after work.

I wasn't saying you gotta take a loss or don't deserve the funds for the work and research, just that the price was a lil on the steep side in my opinion, of course there are other factors that play into the actual pricing when it comes down to it all. Its definitely great that you are making it though everyone on SOF is glad that its being done regardless including me. Just was a personal opinion in regards to pricing. After looking at your link, it does seem to be on the cheaper side in comparison.

Short answer: Yes, absolutely!
Long answer: If you look at the upper inch of the lower opening you will see a small strip of bumper cover which holds the foam pad in place with 2 clips. This restricts the design from going any deeper into the bumper. The RS grill is very similar in depth where the non-RS grill has the mustache.
I have an 1/8" tab connection ring; 1/8" visual opening piece; lastly a 1/4" trim ring which adds up to the given thickness of these grills.
I could use a 1/4" piece for the visual and a thinner trim ring. Only downside I could see from that is the added weight which would be marginal.
The depth of the stock original grill would be very hard to achieve without tooling.

It looks phenomenal. I like the flat, textured trim piece and the flushness a lot. It really looks good with that color paint. I'm curious what it would look like on IOM with a white trim piece myself.... Particularly with the stock bowtie only colored with plastidip. Hmm...
Is there any chance of replacing the stock bowtie? I haven't looked into its construction and attachment yet.
Would it be entirely impossible to stack multiple cutouts to increase the depth of the grille section?

Okay, I have to ask-sorry if I missed this somewhere, but I've read this and your grille build thread more than once.
Is there any way to get the bar style like what you have currently? The blk/white color options are fine, but I think the "billet grill" style just looks so much better. I would order a set like that in a heartbeat.

I do still have the bonding fixtures for my current installed grille(billet type) but there was so much more work involved in creating that prototype. Is it possible, yes of course. It was very tricky marrying an existing chopped up grill mount to the prototype portion.
The visual area was much deeper and finished off the Sonic very nicely. I'm sure I can figure out a way to marry it to this second version with the tabs included.
Now you have me rethinking things...... thanks a lot!

I'm just a huge fan of that look and it's what I've wanted since the day I bought my sonic- especially with the depth of the grill like you said. mmmm.
I understand if there's too much involved in adapting a third style or intricacies of that particular design, but I'd rather know that than never ask!

I'm also interested in a billet style mustacheless grille. It works best with the black and chrome look I'm trying.
