Taking the axles off was to much work. Just took the tires off

I did the trans oil in my 92 pickup at 184,000 miles I think.
It cost $22 a quart for Castrol Syntorque which is what everything claimed it had to have. I think it ended up costing me $88 plus tax because I needed 4 quarts.


Just found this note for the trans that my truck had.

Synthetic gear oil is required, partly due to the carbon composite gear synchronizers. New Venture Gear recommended 75W-90 Castrol Syntorque Synthetic (not the same as Castrol Syntech), Mopar P/N 4974459 (Material Specification 9070) 75W85 manual transmission lubricant, and GM Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid (P/N 12346190; in Canada 10953477). Alternate lubricants could ruin the synchronizers and void the warranty. Even oil that directly states compatibility with the Mopar and GM lubricants above could still void an OEM or rebuilders' warranty.

Then there are several possibilities.


1: He didn't know you were racing him.
2: It's broke and or worn out.
3: It was a 4 or 6 cylinder.
4: Manual transmission and he can't drive.
5: Automatic and it's slipping.


A mid to late 80s Mustang GT runs low 14's in the 1/4 mile stock and around 6 seconds 0-60. Even a highly modified Sonic can barely keep up, forget about stomping one.

Just so we're clear, I don't like Mustangs but I do know what's realistic.
